Registered Nurse (RN) – 12.5‑hour Day Shift (11:00 AM – 12:00 MN) located at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, NJ. Department: Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit. Shift: Day. Pay: $47.85 – $60.60/hr. On‑call and weekend work required. New Jersey license needed. Req # 0000235187. Job Overview The experienced post‑anesthesia care unit nurse monitors post‑operative patients in the main hospital, overseeing neuro, trauma, ortho, or general surgery patient care. The RN ensures patient safety, pain management, and education during the post‑surgical phase. Responsibilities Continuous monitoring and assessment of post‑operative patients in PACU. Provide direct nursing care for neuro, trauma, ortho, and general surgery patients. Ensure patient safety, effective pain management, and education in the post‑surgical phase. Communicate and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members. Document nursing care and maintain accurate patient records. Assist with patient teaching and discharge planning. Participate in unit performance improvement and quality improvement activities. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited nursing school. Baccalaureate or Associate Degree in Nursing. Current, active New Jersey RN license. Minimum 1–2 years of experience in Post‑Anesthesia Care (PACU). Previous critical‑care or PACU experience preferred. Strong critical‑thinking and assessment skills. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire. Completion of Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center orientation and training programs. Certifications and Licenses Required American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification upon hire. Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License. ACLS/PALS certification upon hire or within 60 days of hire. IV certification required within 90 days of hire. Scheduling Requirements Day shift, 11:00 AM – 12:00 MN, 12.5‑hour shift. Full‑time (37.5 hrs per week). Required to work every other weekend and holiday rotations. On‑call weekend required. Essential Functions Provide nursing care in the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act. Ensure safety in practice, maintain evidence‑based standards, and advance knowledge through communication. Report safety issues and maintain patient population knowledge. Supervise and delegate tasks to appropriate team members. Set and evaluate priorities through measurable interventions. Participate in patient teaching, discharge planning, and performance improvement activities. Integrate nursing process to individualize care plans.
