This role could be based in : Toronto, Vancouver, Denver, Salt Lake or Reno

A leading, international mining organization is seeking an accomplished Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer (EVP & COO) to provide enterprise-wide leadership across operations, technical functions, safety, and growth initiatives.

This role sits on the executive leadership team and is responsible for the safe, cost-effective, and sustainable performance of multiple operating sites and development projects across several jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities

• Provide executive oversight of all operating sites and development projects, with a strong focus on health, safety, environmental performance, and operational discipline
• Lead annual operating plans, site-level budgets, and performance objectives in partnership with executive leadership
• Direct long-term mine planning, engineering, metallurgy, tailings, and geotechnical strategies across the portfolio
• Oversee governance, standards, and reporting for mineral reserves, resources, and regulatory disclosures
• Lead exploration and resource development activities, including technical due diligence for M&A and growth initiatives
• Provide executive oversight of environmental, permitting, and sustainability programs across multiple jurisdictions
• Partner closely with corporate development on acquisitions, divestments, and strategic evaluations
• Develop and mentor senior operational and technical leadership, building a strong succession pipeline
• Report operational performance, safety metrics, and strategic initiatives to the Board of Directors

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mining, or Metallurgy (required); MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred
• 20+ years of progressive experience in the mining industry, including senior executive or multi-site leadership roles
• Deep operational experience in open-pit and/or underground mining environments
• Strong technical grounding in mine planning, engineering, and project development
• Demonstrated success leading large, geographically dispersed operations
• Experience with project development, asset construction, and large-scale capital programs
• Proven track record of building high-performance, safety-first cultures
• Strong board-level communication skills and executive presence

Additional Notes

• Significant travel is required
• Role is based in a corporate office environment with regular site engagement
• This position is viewed as a potential future CEO successor role
