Price, Utah | Monday-Thursday | 3:00 PM - 1:30 AM

Intermountain Electronics (IE) designs and manufactures custom electrical control, process control, and power distribution solutions for customers across North America. We serve industries including data centers, utilities, mining, industrial manufacturing, oil & gas, and power generation by building everything from highly engineered, one-of-a-kind systems to standard electrical and electromechanical products.

We're currently looking for an Industrial Fabricator to join our Afternoon Shift team at our Price, Utah manufacturing facility. This position reports directly to the Fabrication Supervisor and offers the opportunity to build high-quality products in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Position Summary

The Industrial Fabricator is responsible for laying out, fitting, fabricating, and assembling structural steel and sheet metal components used in custom electrical equipment. This position utilizes fabrication machinery, welding equipment, and precision measuring tools to manufacture products that meet engineering specifications and quality standards.
Primary Responsibilities
Layout & Blueprint Interpretation

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work orders, and fabrication specifications.
• Plan fabrication sequences for maximum efficiency and quality.
• Measure and verify dimensions using precision measuring tools.
• Interpret welding symbols and fabrication details shown on drawings.
• Build templates and fixtures when required.

Fabrication & Welding

• Fit, align, tack, and weld structural components to AWS standards.
• Perform MIG welding, including pulse welding processes.
• Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
• Repair fabricated components by cutting, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
• Grind, bevel, finish, and prepare materials for final assembly.
• Cut, bend, straighten, and shape metal using fabrication equipment and hand tools.

Equipment Operation

Safely operate equipment including:

• MIG welders
• Press brakes
• Shears
• Punch presses
• Cutting torches
• Grinders
• Drills
• Overhead cranes
• Forklifts
• Hoists
• General fabrication hand tools

Maintain equipment in good working condition and ensure tools are properly cleaned and stored at the end of each shift.
Additional Responsibilities

• Maintain dependable attendance and arrive ready to work.
• Follow all Intermountain Electronics safety procedures and policies.
• Demonstrate IE's Core Values in daily work.
• Assist with installing electrical components into fabricated panels when needed.
• Prepare finished products through washing, priming, and painting as required.
• Perform other related duties assigned by supervision.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years of metal fabrication and/or welding experience, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.
• Strong MIG welding skills with the ability to select appropriate welding methods for a variety of fabrication tasks.
• Ability to obtain and maintain applicable AWS (American Welding Society) welding certifications.
• Working knowledge of safe rigging practices.
• Comfortable reading engineering drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and shop prints.
• Solid math skills for measurements, layout work, and interpreting fabrication drawings.
• Experience fabricating and assembling structural steel, sheet metal, or custom metal products.
• Ability to safely operate fabrication equipment including welders, overhead cranes, forklifts, brake presses, shears, punch presses, drills, saws, torches, grinders, and other shop tools.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Dependable attendance with the ability to report to work and scheduled meetings on time.

Physical Requirements

This position is physically demanding and requires the ability to:

• Stand and work for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Frequently lift, move, or carry materials weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Push, pull, reach, grasp, bend, kneel, squat, crawl, and climb as needed.
• Work safely from ladders, elevated work platforms, and walkways.
• Perform repetitive fabrication tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
