Pay Rate: $1,900.00 - $2,100.00 gross per week

Length: 13 weeks

Schedule: M-F; times vary

Will be On call - dependent on Surgeon schedule

Surgery Schedule 

• Mondays - Ortho
• Tuesdays - General Surgery
• All other days are a mix of surgeries which may include podiatry and small vascular surgeries

2-5 surgeries a day

Additional Information

Functions as surgical first assistant to the surgeon during the operation working under the direction and supervision of that surgeon and in accordance with hospital policy and appropriate laws and regulations. On occasion the surgical first assistant may have to perform the duties of a surgical technician. All surgical staff assists with room turn over.

CORE FUNCTIONS

• Interacts professionally with patient and family. Provides patient with explanations and verbal reassurance, as necessary.
• Adapts procedures to meet individual needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients for treatment. Anticipates needs of surgeon during intraoperative phase.
• Performs aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
• Follows written procedures for steam sterilization; knows responsibilities and the necessity for chemical and biological monitoring. Is fully responsible for care of instruments/equipment during intra/postoperative phase, including cleaning and processing of instruments.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• CST
• BLS Certification

• Requires a knowledge level typically obtained with two (2) years of Surgical Technician experience

ABOUT THE FACILITY

We are a small 25 bed Critical Access Hospital. In the last fifteen years, the hospital has added new buildings for the Emergency Department, Surgery, Cardiac Cath Lab, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation; a new building for Medical Services in Quartzsite and the first imaging center in that city. The hospital is the only general hospital in the County. Between our hospital and clinics, we are an essential component of county health and welfare. During the 2019 fiscal year-ended, Total visits were 38,490 for a total of 15,156 patients treated. The Hospital admitted 741 Inpatients, and 58 swing bed patients; Outpatient visits included 8,147 ER visits and 3,332 Urgent Care Visits, and 26,212 Clinic visits.
