Job profile Summary:
Performs intermediate to complex technical support, general lab maintenance, and lab operational support with some degree of independence to aid in research projects. Responsible for following lab safety standards.

Job Description:

The Mangone Laboratory within the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University, Tempe campus, is seeking a Research Technician to support its research program focused on the mechanisms of post-transcriptional gene regulation using both Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) and human cell lines. Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Research Technician will contribute to the laboratory's research mission by supporting laboratory operations and research activities in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Position Salary Range: $21.20 - $22.00 per hour; DOE

Essential Duties:

• Perform routine laboratory tasks, including data collection and general laboratory upkeep and maintenance.
  
• Prepare laboratory reagents and solutions, pour agarose plates, sterilize glassware, and maintain laboratory supplies and equipment.
  
• Enter, maintain, and organize research data in web-based laboratory databases to ensure accurate recordkeeping.
  
• Perform other duties as assigned.
  

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in a related field.
  
  
• Four years of relevant research experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  
• Experience with general laboratory research, preferably involving C. elegans biology, recombinant DNA, and cell culture techniques.
  
• Strong organizational, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
  

Working Environment:

• Regular activities require ability to manage multiple tasks at one time, to be able to prioritize tasks; to manage conflict: to interact in a team environment: and to communicate effectively to exchange accurate information.
  
• Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting and laboratory subject to extended periods of being in a stationary position, operating computer and other office productivity machinery; required to move a moderate distance to perform work.
  
• Frequently moves up to 25 pounds for various needs.
  
• May be required to wear personal protective equipment before entering laboratories such as lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, closed toe shoes and respirator.
