Position Overview

The General Superintendent is responsible for the overall success of construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role involves overseeing all aspects of a project, from pre-construction planning to final delivery. The General Superintendent will work closely with the Project Manager and other team members to ensure the project's success.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

Preconstruction Planning

·         Collaborate with owners, architects, and engineers to develop comprehensive project plans.

·         Review and approve project budgets, schedules, and scopes of work.

·         Identify and mitigate potential risks and challenges.

Construction Management

·         Oversee all on-site construction activities, including scheduling, budgeting, and quality control.

·         Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.

·         Monitor project progress and make adjustments as needed to meet deadlines and budget.

Safety and Compliance

·         Ensure that all safety regulations are followed and that the job site is a safe working environment.

·         Maintain compliance with all applicable building codes and permits.

Client Relations:

·         Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, architects, and engineers.

·         Communicate project progress and address any concerns or issues promptly.

Team Leadership

·         Lead and manage a team of construction professionals, including superintendents, foremen, and field staff.

·         Provide guidance, training, and support to team members.

Quality Control

·         Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure that the project meets the highest standards.

·         Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address any quality issues.

Work Requirements

·   Pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screen and criminal background check

·   Be able to provide valid identification for the I-9 Immigration document

·   Display a professional and courteous attitude

·   Report to work at the designated start time

·   Must be willing and able to travel to work sites, which are in different locations around our division

·   Be willing to work overtime, nights, and weekends when necessary

·   Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures. Responsible for reporting to management/safety personnel or stopping work if needed due to any issue or activity, etc. that could result in an injury or death to yourself, another employee, sub-contractor or other at/on any Gallant property, office or job site.  Responsible for stopping work and notifying onsite management and safety management if you spot an issue that could be life threatening.

·   Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA

·   Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co–workers or supervisors with other duties as required

·   Must have/maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record with a Motor Vehicle Record that meets company standards.

Education/Experience

B.S. in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management, or related field preferred with 8 years of experience in related industry or 15 years experience in related industry, including program management, architecture, engineering, or construction.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

·         Able to write clearly and concisely in a variety of communication settings and styles

·         Open to change in business environment and can quickly develop new strategies to create new business opportunities

·         Exhibits commitment to quality by evaluating program-related processes and make necessary changes, using Client input to make improvements, and meeting internal and external Client expectations

·         Acts in a manner of integrity that demonstrates leadership and support for the company values and the employees, while maintaining constant focus on exceeding Client requirements and expectations

·         Strong computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet, scanning, database and presentation software. Demonstrates proficiency using computers, tablets and company communication tools, such as email, Internet, and software applications,

·         Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, Office, Outlook, Project) Document Management Systems (Plan Grid), Blue Beam and Accounting software: Sage/Timberline/Timber Scan

·         Strong executive leadership skills with ability and willingness to create strategies to solve systemic problems while maintaining key executive relationships with Clients by exceeding their requirements and expectations

·         Supervises, develops and motivates all internal team members, seeking opportunities to delegate significant responsibilities to others as development opportunities

·         Leads all aspects of project delivery, including Design Build Projects, and consistently driving for quality, timely and profitable results of personally developed programs

·         Communicates well and creates effective Client-focused relationship at all organizational levels

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, see, grasp, stand, walk and use repetitive hand motions (i.e., using a keyboard), plus stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching. The employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel. Must be able to use a computer keyboard, mouse and calculator. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and color vision and ability to adjust focus. In the field environment, incumbent may be required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.

Work Environment

Work is primarily conducted indoors under controlled environmental conditions (however levels of temperature may vary throughout the workspace).   Typical office environment with low noise level, appropriate lighting (artificial and natural), and air circulation.
