Rodney Hunt is seeking candidates with the technical foundation, customer orientation, and strong data analytics skills to support our sales team with data and CRM management. This is a temporary assignment lasting between 3 - 6 months.

Job Overview: 

The Sales Engineering Intern will support the Sales Department with sales data management, reporting, estimating support, and general sales operations. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in a technical sales environment while supporting the department's increasing data tracking and reporting requirements. The intern will primarily be responsible for maintaining and organizing sales databases, collecting and validating sales data, preparing reports, and assisting with data analysis. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with data, and interested in developing experience at the intersection of engineering, sales, and business analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and organize sales databases, customer records, project information, and sales pipeline data.
• Enter, update, and verify sales and project information to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
• Monitor databases for missing, outdated, or inconsistent information and work with the Sales team to resolve discrepancies.
• Develop and maintain organized tracking systems for sales opportunities, quotes, projects, and customer activity.
• Assist with improving the organization and efficiency of sales data management processes.
• Collect and compile sales data from various sources for internal reporting.
• Assist in preparing recurring sales reports, dashboards, and management summaries.
• Support increased data tracking and reporting requirements established by company leadership and the Board.
• Analyze sales data to identify trends, gaps, opportunities, and areas requiring additional attention.
• Assist with ad hoc reports and data analysis as requested by the Estimator or Sales leadership.
• Maintain accurate historical sales information to support forecasting and business decisions.
• Assist the Estimator with gathering and organizing information needed for quotations and proposals.
• Research customer, project, and market information as needed to support sales activities.
• Assist with tracking quotation activity, project status, and follow-up requirements.
• Support the Sales Department with administrative and analytical tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Engineering, Business, Data Analytics, Finance, Marketing, or a related field.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of Excel functions such as PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, filtering, and data validation.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating with members of the Sales Department.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential business and customer information appropriately.

Physical & Work Environment

• This position primarily involves office-based computer and administrative work. Occasional interaction with manufacturing, engineering, or other operational areas may be required to understand projects, products, and sales requirements.
