Reactive Supplier Quality Engineer

Inside the Role This position is responsible for leading a team of automotive suppliers in providing quality powertrain components with sufficient capacity. It is part of the Global Supplier Management and Material Process Technology department and reports to the Supplier Management Quality Team Leader. Responsibilities Work with suppliers to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and appropriate corrective actions are implemented. Manage timely resolution of supplier technical issues to ensure uninterrupted supply to production. Strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects to increase supplier capability in meeting customer requirements. Document activities related to investigation, disposition, and resolution of quality complaints. Conduct supplier audits to confirm product conformity and drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement. Monitor, communicate and improve key supplier quality KPIs, including DPPM, quality complaints, and capacity to support OTS compliance. Lead or support efforts to establish specific short- / long-term supplier quality goals. Champion problem-solving and root-cause analysis activities with suppliers and customers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances. Interface and support cross-functional business units on supplier quality topics. Oversee containment actions at the supplier to mitigate the impact of quality issues to Daimler. Travel domestically and internationally (expected 30–50%). Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field. 1–3 years of related experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present complex technical topics during meetings with suppliers and management. Knowledge of GD&T and MSA. Ability to understand metallurgical requirements and interpret reports. Strong problem-solving skills and a solution-focused mindset. Understanding of quality problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5‑why, and fishbone. Customer-focused mindset with the ability to understand and address customer needs and expectations related to supplier quality topics. Preferred Qualifications Project management experience. Statistical process control experience. Familiarity with engine, axle, and transmission components. Experience with various manufacturing processes such as machining, casting, injection molding, stamping, and forging. Experience working with global suppliers and managing quality across different regions and cultures. Knowledge of a foreign language. Benefits Salary range: $78,000 – $100,000 USD.
