Overview Position Title UTS-Temporary Fire Alarm Technician - 1st Shift - UNC Chapel Hill Department HR UTS Partnership Career Area Facilities and Skilled Trades Primary Purpose Of Organizational Unit This position serves as part of the Life Safety/Electronics-Specialty Shop team, ensuring the smooth operation of critical safety and monitoring systems across campus. The role involves both preventive maintenance and hands-on installations or modifications to essential systems that support the safety, security, and functionality of the university. Position Summary Job Summary Pay Rate: $28.00/hour Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM 100% on site no weekends or holidays Location: UNC Chapel Hill UNC Chapel Hill is hiring a UTS Electronics Specialist (Journey) , specializing in fire alarm technology . If you’re detail-oriented and enjoy working with electronics and safety systems, this could be the perfect opportunity for you! Minimum Education And Experience Requirements High School Diploma or completion of GED Required Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience Experience working with security systems, and CCTV systems. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot electronic systems. Knowledge of safety codes and regulations related to Life Safety systems is preferred. Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and vendors. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience Experience working with fire alarm systems Special Physical/Mental Requirements n/a Special Instructions UNC-Chapel Hill and NC State University are collaborating to extend NC State’s internal temporary staffing function as a shared service for both institutions.
