A high school diploma or GED is required, along with completion of a diesel technology or automotive training program, preferably coupled with several years of hands-on experience. Your strong knowledge of diesel engine systems and diagnostics is crucial for effectively diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues.Familiarity with diagnostic tools, software, and technical manuals will enable you to perform routine maintenance and repairs, ensuring vehicle safety and performance. You should have strong problem-solving and mechanical aptitude, along with the ability to read and interpret technical documents. Time management and effective communication skills are essential for collaborating with service advisors and maintaining a safe, organized work environment.A valid driver’s license and the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds are also required to succeed in this role.Knowledge and skills required for the position are:Key ResponsibilitiesDiagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic issues in diesel engines and vehicle systemsPerform routine maintenance and repairs including engine, transmission, brake, suspension and fuel system workConduct inspections and road tests to ensure vehicle safety and performanceUse diagnostic tools, software and technical manuals to identify and resolve issuesAccurately document repair orders, parts used and labor hoursCommunicate effectively with service advisors regarding repair needs and timelinesFollow manufacturer guidelines, dealership policies and safety proceduresMaintain a clean, organized and safe work environmentStay current with technical training, certifications and industry advancements Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED requiredCompletion of a diesel technology or automotive training program preferredMinimum of 3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic or technicianStrong knowledge of diesel engine systems and diagnosticsValid driver’s license with an acceptable driving recordAbility to read and interpret technical documents and schematics Preferred QualificationsASE Diesel Certification(s)Manufacturer -specific certifications (e.g.Cummins, Duramax, Power Stroke)Experience working in a dealership or high-volume service environment Skills and CompetenciesStrong problem-solving and diagnostic skillsMechanical aptitude and attention to detailTime management and ability to meet productivity standardsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamProfessional communication and customer-service mindset Physical RequirementsAbility to stand, bend, lift and work in various positions for extended periodsAbility to lift up to 50 poundsManual dexterity to use hand and power toolsGet started with our team!We believe in taking care of our team, both on and off the job.
