Field Technician

HF Sinclair Midstream located in Artesia, NM is seeking a Field Technician. This is an entry-level operations role responsible for learning safe operation of crude oil, refined products, and terminal assets. Performs assigned operational tasks under supervision, including pipeline, terminal, and crude gathering activities. Progresses through structured training and task qualifications to support end-to-end operations within an assigned area.

Job Duties:

• Learns and assists with operation of pipeline, terminal, and crude gathering assets
• Performs pipeline, station, and facility inspections under supervision
• Performs mainline valve inspections and right-of-way activities
• Supports terminal operations including lineups, tank rounds, and basic equipment checks
• Performs crude oil gauging, sampling, and custody transfer activities as qualified
• Performs routine operational checks and basic preventive maintenance tasks
• Completes required documentation, inspections, and work records
• Responds to abnormal operating conditions with supervision
• Participates in emergency response training and drills
• Follows all safety, environmental, and operating procedures

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion

Experience: A minimum of 2 years of general work experience is required. Preferred experience: A minimum of three years of job related experience, either three plus years in the Oil and Gas Industry in operations OR three plus years in military fuel management OR three plus years in natural gas pipeline operations OR equivalent.

Education Level: A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Required Skills: Advanced ability to perform mathematical calculations and advanced measurement skills to assignments based on pre-established guidelines of Company Policy and required regulations. Advanced knowledge of safety procedures and precautions. Strong mechanical aptitude. Basic reading and writing skills, and ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility: Company agent for purchasing crude oil at the tank battery at approximately $25,000 per tank purchased with daily purchases of about $250,000. No secondary approval of the purchase; the run ticket is agreement to pay.

Work Conditions: Field based and with 60% travel by land and air required. Out-of-doors environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment. Required to work in all temperatures including outdoors. Subject to varying road and weather conditions. Subject to shift work and 24-hour on-call availability. May be required to work in confined spaces.

Physical Requirements: Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, crouching, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements. Reaching or grasping, lifting and/or carrying up to 50lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 50lbs, climbing up to 40ft, perceiving color differences, ability to wear personal protective equipment (beards not permitted) and strenuous physical activity.
