Job Description

The Quality Inspector performs detailed inspections on customer aircraft and signs off on return-to-service documentation to ensure all maintenance and repairs meet regulatory, safety, and company standards. This role supports a rapidly growing operation and plays a key part in maintaining airworthiness and operational reliability.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough inspections on customer aircraft in accordance with applicable regulations, maintenance manuals, and company procedures.
• Verify that all maintenance, repairs, and modifications are completed correctly and meet quality, safety, and compliance requirements.
• Conduct aircraft quality inspections using appropriate tools, equipment, and documentation to identify defects, discrepancies, or nonconformities.
• Review and validate maintenance records and work orders to ensure accuracy, completeness, and traceability prior to return-to-service.
• Sign off aircraft for return-to-service when all required inspections, repairs, and documentation meet established standards.
• Collaborate with maintenance technicians and troubleshooting teams to resolve quality issues and confirm corrective actions.
• Apply quality control and quality assurance principles to maintain consistent inspection standards across all aircraft.
• Utilize troubleshooting skills to help identify root causes of defects and support effective repair solutions.
• Follow established safety practices and maintain a clean, organized work area within the hangar environment.
• Work flexibly across any assigned shift (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) and support overtime requirements, typically 40–50 hours per week.
• Use and maintain personally owned tools in good working condition for daily inspection activities.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 5 years of aircraft maintenance experience.
• At least 1 year of aircraft quality inspection experience.
• At least 1 year of return-to-service experience or maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) experience.
• Hands-on experience with aircraft inspection, repair, and troubleshooting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of quality control and quality assurance principles in an aviation environment.
• Ability to accurately review, interpret, and complete maintenance and inspection documentation.
• Capability to work any shift, including 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts, as needed.
• Ability to bring and effectively use a personal set of tools for inspection and maintenance-related tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience working on CRJ, ERJ, or 737 aircraft.
• Previous commercial airline maintenance or inspection experience.
• Experience in a rapidly growing maintenance or MRO environment.
• Comfort working in a hangar setting with changing workloads and multiple aircraft.
• Openness to either long-term direct employment or ongoing contract/per diem work, depending on preference.

Work Environment

The role is based in a medium-sized, fairly new aircraft hangar within a rapidly growing operation that is adding aircraft at a fast pace. The work schedule typically involves 40–50 hours per week with overtime as needed, and the ability to work any shift (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) is required. The environment is hands-on and technical, with daily use of personal tools and standard aircraft inspection equipment while working directly on customer aircraft. The facility supports a dynamic workload as additional planes are brought in, and the setting is structured to maintain safety, organization, and efficiency in the hangar.

This is a Contract position based out of Kansas City, MO.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
