Senior Accountant – Insurance & Investment Accounting Focused | Direct Hire, Hybrid | $70000–$85,000 + Bonus

Join an established organization seeking an experienced Staff Accountant its investment finance team. This position is an excellent opportunity for an accountant who wants to develop deeper expertise in investment accounting, financial reporting, regulatory reporting, and financial statement support within the Insurance Industry. The position will take ownership of key investment accounting activities while partnering with accounting, operations, auditors, and other internal stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare, review, and post monthly investment-related journal entries
• Prepare supporting workpapers and maintain accurate accounting documentation
• Support monthly financial reporting and analyze actual results against budget
• Research and communicate significant financial variances
• Assist with quarterly and annual investment-related regulatory reporting
• Prepare investment schedules and supporting information for annual audits
• Coordinate audit requests and help resolve financial reporting questions
• Maintain accurate reporting and supporting audit trails
• Support general accounting and financial reporting responsibilities
• Identify opportunities to strengthen accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency
• Partner cross-functionally to resolve accounting and reporting issues

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
• 2+ years of progressively responsible accounting or financial reporting experience
• Investment accounting or financial-services accounting experience strongly preferred
• Experience with regulatory or statutory reporting is highly desirable
• Experience preparing journal entries, workpapers, reconciliations, and financial reports
• Audit support experience preferred
• Understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas and data analysis
• Power Query, macros, or VBA experience is a plus
• Experience working with accounting, investment, or financial reporting systems
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across departments
