About the role Renovation Church is seeking a dynamic Human Resources Manager who will help create a healthy, Christ-centered workplace where staff are equipped, supported, and able to thrive in their roles. This position oversees key HR functions including hiring and onboarding, payroll and benefits, employee relations, compliance, and staff development while partnering with leadership to strengthen HR systems and support the continued growth of Renovation Church. It is an ideal role for someone who is able to be a one-person department. This is a regular, full-time role. The compensation for this position will be $46,800 - $62,400. What you'll do: Hiring & Onboarding Lead and manage the full-cycle hiring process for all staff positions, including job postings, applicant screening, interview coordination, and offer processes Ensure consistent, equitable, and legally compliant hiring practices Oversee onboarding for new hires, including orientation, paperwork, training coordination, and first 90-day support Payroll & Compensation Manage payroll processing in coordination with finance/accounting staff as well as external payroll providers Maintain payroll records, timekeeping systems, and compensation data Support annual compensation reviews and adjustments in alignment with leadership direction and budget Administer benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, and communication Human Resources Operations Serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions related to HR policies, benefits, payroll, and employment practices Maintain employee personnel files and HR systems with accuracy and confidentiality Track and manage employee leaves, accommodations, and workplace needs Employee Relations & Culture Support a healthy, Christ-centered workplace culture rooted in trust, accountability, and care Provide guidance to leadership and staff on employee relations matters, conflict resolution, and performance concerns Assist managers with performance management processes, feedback, and documentation Promote staff development, well-being, and retention Compliance & Risk Management Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations Maintain and update employee handbook, HR policies, and procedures Support investigations, documentation, and corrective action processes when needed Assist with audits, insurance requests, and HR-related reporting Strategic HR Support Advise executive leadership regarding organizational health and HR best practices Support workforce planning and organizational growth initiatives Identify opportunities to improve HR systems, processes, and staff experience Meetings Meet regularly with the Operations Director to report strengths and weaknesses of the ministry, to be held accountable for job responsibilities, and also to better develop personal leadership. Qualifications GIFTED AND ABILITIES Required 3+ years of experience in human resources management or a generalist HR role Strong working knowledge of employment law, payroll practices, and HR operations Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills High level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality Proficiency with payroll systems and common office software Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a ministry environment Preferred HR certification (PHR, SHRM‑CP, or similar) Experience working in a church, nonprofit, or faith-based organization Familiarity with Minnesota employment laws Experience supporting organizations with 20–50+ employees LIFESTYLE Personal, growing, and mature relationship with Jesus Christ Demonstrates consistent lifestyle and is of strong character Demonstrates a humble and teachable attitude Responsible and reliable in work and life Agrees with Renovation Church’s statement of faith Be in full agreement with Renovation Church’s vision and core values Must be willing to be integrated and active in the Renovation Church community Physical Requirements Ability to navigate church or facility buildings, often including steps Ability to maintain energy during long organizational sessions, activities, or extended event days Occasional requirement to lift, carry or move items Ability to utilize technology such as computers and smart phones for reading text and managing media We provide reasonable accommodation to applicants with disabilities.
