Psychiatry Job Details Position: Locum Tenens Physician - Psychiatry Specialty: Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Setting: Adolescent psychiatric unit coverage Location: San Francisco, California Start Date: 10/19/2026 Duration: 26 weeks Schedule: 8-hour day shifts with night call coverage Coverage Needs: 2 weekends per month, plus Monday/Tuesday coverage Weekly Estimated Pay: $8,160 - $8,750 Patient Population: Adolescents Daily Volume: Approximately 6-12 patients per day Credentialing Timeframe: 60-90 days Orientation: 24 hours On-Site: Yes Job Requirements Board certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, or board certified in General Psychiatry with completed Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship At least 1 year of psychiatry experience required California medical license required California DEA with Schedule 2/2N required BLS certification required; all certifications must be AHA-approved Strong knowledge of psychiatric assessment, diagnoses, psychopharmacology, and psychotherapy Experience managing psychiatric medications in children and adolescents Comfort working with adolescent development, family systems, and safeguarding considerations Ability to collaborate effectively with parents, guardians, and an interdisciplinary behavioral health team Must be available to provide required onboarding documents promptly during the privileging process Providers must be based in California Responsibilities Provide psychiatric coverage for adolescent patients in an inpatient or unit-based behavioral health setting Complete psychiatric assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and adjust care as needed Manage psychiatric medications and therapeutic interventions for adolescent patients Support weekend rounding and night call responsibilities, including admission order placement when needed Collaborate with nurses, social workers, therapists, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team Use de-escalation strategies and clinical judgment to help manage challenging behaviors Communicate clearly with patients, families, and care team members to support safe, effective treatment Maintain high standards of patient-centered, culturally responsive care Participate in care coordination and support a therapeutic environment for adolescent patients Apply now to join this locum tenens psychiatry opportunity in San Francisco, CA, and help provide exceptional adolescent behavioral health care.
