Job Summary

The Senior Field Service Technician is responsible for initiating and executing field service activities at customer sites in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. This role includes proactive troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and diesel equipment, performing preventative maintenance, managing parts inventory, and identifying and correcting safety issues involving company- and customer-owned equipment. The technician will work directly with customers and may support multiple systems, locations, and customers.

Essential Responsibilities

• Initiate and execute field service activities at customer sites in a safe, efficient, and professional manner.
• Proactively troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, diesel, and other technical equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections to support equipment reliability.
• Manage parts inventory and ensure required materials are available to support field service activities.
• Identify and correct safety issues involving company- and customer-owned equipment.
• Communicate professionally with customers regarding equipment condition, service needs, and recommended solutions.
• Maintain company property, tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working condition.
• Work independently with minimal supervision while effectively managing service activities and priorities.
• Collaborate with internal teams and customers to resolve technical issues and meet service commitments.
• Demonstrate accountability, innovation, and empowerment while supporting a high-impact culture.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–5 years of technical work experience, including industrial or commercial process water experience.
• Electrical, mechanical, diesel, and/or fusion experience depending on business unit.
• Previous field service, industrial maintenance, or related technical experience preferred.
• Industry-specific licenses or certifications may be preferred.
• Ability to obtain required customer site clearances, including TWIC, DISA, or other site-specific requirements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Card.

Travel and Driving Requirements

• Overnight travel and extended time away from home may be required.
• This position requires operating a company vehicle. Candidates must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record that meets company standards.
• Candidates must successfully complete all required driver, DOT, medical, and background screening requirements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain company driving privileges

Compensation & Benefits

The estimated pay range for this position is $27 to $30 per hour. At Xylem we offer a competitive compensation package with a generous benefit package, including Medical, Dental, Vision plans, 401(k) with company contribution, paid time off, paid parental leave and tuition reimbursement.
