Director of Product, Carrier Experience

You will report directly to our Co-Founder and Head of Product, serving as a key thought partner in defining the future of our product strategy and team. As the most senior product hire to date, you’ll be instrumental in shaping our roadmap, building foundational systems and processes, and scaling the product function from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity to have outsized impact at a fast-growing startup serving a vital and underserved industry.Work Location: This role is based in Palo Alto, CA and involves a hybrid work approach, balancing in-office collaboration with the ability to work remotely.To support our team, we offer:Commuter benefits to ease your travelLunches and snacks to keep you fueledA collaborative, high-growth environment where you’ll work closely with talented teammates across the companyExpectations (In this role, you will):Own the vision and strategy for the carrier experience across Mudflap's app and card, the primary surfaces for customer engagement, transactions, and revenue.Set the product strategy for growth across the app and card, translating company goals into clear product bets and prioritiesDevelop and own product roadmap, streamlining complex trade‑offs and focusing on business impactLead the development of new growth initiatives, from early discovery through launch and scaleDrive meaningful improvements to existing products, focusing on onboarding, activation, usage, pricing, and monetizationDesign intuitive, high-trust in-app experiences, including credit and incentive mechanics that work at scaleChampion customer empathy: directly and regularly engage with truckers and fleet operators to understand workflows, pain points, and decision driversPartner deeply with Engineering, Design, Data, Operations, Customer Support, Marketing and Finance to deliver cohesive end-to-end experiencesDefine and own growth metrics for the app and card, track performance, diagnose issues, and guide investment decisions using dataBuild a culture of learning and iteration, using experimentation and customer feedback to inform product directionBuild, mentor, and lead a strong team of product managers, raising the bar for product thinking and executionOperate with a seat at the table alongside the executive leadership team, serving as a trusted partner in planning, prioritization, and long-term strategyExperience (What we look for):8+ years in product management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.Broad, customer-facing product ownership in marketplaces, fintech, payments or logistics, ideally building for small businesses or independent operators.Track record of launching successful products that drive tangible business outcomes (e.g. revenue growth, retention).Deep understanding of customer needs and strong user research skills.Demonstrated interest in and innovative use of AIExcellent analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate data and insight into actionable roadmap.Strong leadership and mentoring skills, fostering an inclusive and high‑performance culture.Exceptional communication skills: comfortable presenting to exec leadership and external partners.Please note: We are unable to provide employment visa sponsorship or transfer existing employment visa sponsorship for this position at this time.Perks and Benefits (What we offer):Competitive salary and equity in a high-growth startupMultiple health benefit optionsResponsible Time Off401(k) matchingOpportunities and support for major career growthAnnual Company offsite event (Mudfest!)The salary range for this role is $270,000 - $300,000. This information reflects a base salary range for this position based on current market data, which may be subject to change as new market data becomes available.
