Position Details Job Code: JC-523638 Position Number: 291-553-4335-001 Title: Business Taxes Administrator I, Board of Equalization Classification: BUSINESS TAXES ADMINISTRATOR I, BOARD OF EQUALIZATION Salary Range: $8,056.00 - $10,583.00 Number of Positions: Multiple Work Location: Orange County Telework Availability: In Office Job Type: Permanent, Full Time Department Summary The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) administers sales and use tax, and special taxes and fees, and is a key part of state revenue collection. Responsibilities The Business Taxes Administrator I operates under the direction of the Business Taxes Administrator II, Compliance Principal. Responsibilities include managing day‑to‑day operational functions to promote compliance, deter fraud/tax evasion, and enhance compliance for all CDTFA programs. The incumbent directs team members to conduct investigations, research and review leads, visit businesses, analyze cases, and evaluate documents, books, records, and financial statements. The role involves integrating and applying practices, policies, and procedures across compliance and audit functions, collaborating with external teams, and motivating, training, and developing staff while monitoring performance. Travel Travel may be required up to five percent of the time, which may include overnight stays. Position may require overnight travel for up to five consecutive nights to meet training requirements. Eligibility for Promotional Exams Have a permanent civil service appointment with CDTFA. Are current or former employees of the legislature for two or more years as defined in Government Code 18990. Are current or former non‑elected exempt employees of the executive branch for two or more consecutive years as defined in Government Code 18992. Are persons retired from the United States military honorably discharged from active duty with a service disability or honorably discharged from active duty as defined in Government Code 18991.
