The Senior Database Administrator will support the planning, design, administration, optimization, and maintenance of enterprise database environments across DB2 for z/OS, Oracle, SQL Server, and GIS platforms . This role is responsible for ensuring database architectures, schemas, data dictionaries, and processing environments align with departmental standards, security requirements, and enterprise data strategies. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in DB2 for z/OS administration , strong mainframe experience, and advanced knowledge of database performance tuning, disaster recovery, infrastructure planning, and enterprise application support. Key Responsibilities Database Administration & Operations
- Perform daily database administration and operational support activities.
- Manage and support DB2 for z/OS, Oracle, SQL Server, and GIS databases.
- Monitor database health, availability, and performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex database and infrastructure issues.
- Ensure database environments comply with AST security standards.
- Assist in designing, developing, and optimizing enterprise database architectures.
- Develop and maintain database schemas, data structures, and data dictionaries.
- Support enterprise data warehousing and database modernization initiatives.
- Participate in technical infrastructure planning and implementation efforts.
- Monitor and optimize database performance across all supported platforms.
- Analyze database workloads and recommend tuning improvements.
- Utilize database monitoring tools to identify and resolve bottlenecks.
- Conduct SQL code reviews and performance assessments.
- Administer and support DB2 for z/OS environments.
- Perform DB2 upgrades, catalog maintenance, and subsystem recovery activities.
- Support DB2 integration with enterprise applications.
- Manage point-in-time recovery, backup, and disaster recovery processes.
- Support JCL, RACF, CICS, ISPF, IOF, and z/OS infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain database administration procedures and operational documentation.
- Establish standards, best practices, and quality assurance controls.
- Support change management and verification testing activities.
- Maintain technical documentation for production and disaster recovery environments.
- Mentor and train junior database and technical staff.
- Provide technical leadership on database-related initiatives.
- Collaborate with application developers, analysts, project managers, and infrastructure teams.
- Support enterprise architecture and strategic planning initiatives.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 15+ years of combined database administration experience.
- Expert-level experience with:
- DB2 for z/OS
- Oracle 10g and above
- SQL Server 2008 R2 and above
