Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in an 18-bed Neuro ICU at a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing complex neurological cases including strokes with and without tPA, ventriculostomies, and post-craniectomy patients
• Manage and titrate physician-ordered drips as required in an ICU environment
• Operate and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment including ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow devices
• Read, interpret, and document cardiac monitor strips using Philips monitoring systems; a telemetry tech is staffed on every shift
• Collaborate with charge nurses and a 24/7 house supervisor; travelers are expected to float first to intermediate (1:3) or general floor units (1:4) as needed
• Maintain active Illinois RN licensure and adhere to a drug-free campus policy, including a negative drug screen for all panels

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated prior to submission
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification required
• Proficiency with ventriculostomy, arterial lines, central lines, tPA administration, acute stroke management, and post-craniectomy care
• Experience with ventilator management
• Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local pay rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel or contract nursing experience in a Neuro ICU or high-acuity ICU setting
• Comfort managing a wide variety of physician-ordered titratable drips in a fast-paced ICU environment
• Experience floating to intermediate or general medical-surgical units
