Job-ID29334187Reference26-25590TypeDirect PlacementSalary$155,000-$160,000 / yearNesco Resource is partnering with a global engineering and technology organization seeking an Instrumentation Engineer to join its Houston engineering team.This position will support large-scale industrial process and capital projects from engineering and design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in instrumentation engineering, field instrumentation, and instrument installation. This is not a programming-focused controls/automation position. We are looking for someone who enjoys the hands-on technical side of instrumentation engineering and wants to continue growing within that specialty.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop instrumentation engineering deliverables including instrument indexes, I/O lists, datasheets, loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, cable schedules, and installation layoutsSpecify and select field instrumentation for pressure, temperature, flow, and levelSize and specify control valves and other instrumentation equipmentDevelop instrument specifications, technical documentation, material requisitions, and bid evaluationsReview vendor drawings and technical documentationProvide instrumentation input to P&IDs and project design documentationSupport instrument layouts, cable engineering, BOM estimates, and installation requirementsCoordinate with process, electrical, mechanical, piping, and controls/automation engineering teamsParticipate in design and 3D model reviews for accessibility and constructabilityInterface with clients, vendors, contractors, and project teamsSupport FATs, SATs, loop checks, field installation, commissioning, startup, and troubleshootingSupport projects throughout engineering, procurement, construction, and field executionQualificationsB.S. in Electrical Engineering or related electrical discipline required3+ years of instrumentation engineering experience within chemical, petrochemical, refining, energy, industrial process, EPC, or similar environmentsStrong hands-on experience with field instrumentation design and specificationExperience with control valve sizing and specificationExperience developing instrumentation engineering deliverables in a project environmentEIT/FE certification with a commitment to pursue PE licensure preferredFamiliarity with DCS, PLC, SCADA, and/or Safety Instrumented Systems is beneficial; however, this position is not centered around PLC programming or controls programmingKnowledge of applicable ISA, IEC, NEC, NFPA, and/or API standards is preferredExperience with engineering software such as COMOS, SmartPlant, or AutoCAD is a plus but not requiredMust be comfortable traveling approximately 20–30% domestically and internationallyIdeal BackgroundExact industry experience is less important than having strong instrumentation fundamentals.
