Project Manager II

The Project Manager II is responsible for leading and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously, or managing a key initiative within a larger enterprise program. This role operates with a moderate level of independence and serves as a bridge between project execution and program-level oversight. The Project Manager II works closely with business and technology stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of project objectives, while managing schedules, budgets, risks, and stakeholder communications.

Building upon foundational project management experience, this position takes greater ownership of cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder engagement, vendor coordination, and reporting activities. The role is expected to navigate routine project challenges independently while escalating significant scope, resource, or requirements concerns when appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and manage project plans, timelines, budgets, resource allocations, and deliverables for multiple projects or a project within a larger program.
• Oversee daily project execution, including work assignments, progress monitoring, issue resolution, and coordination of project activities.
• Maintain accountability for project scope, schedule, and budget while ensuring delivery objectives are achieved.
• Lead project meetings, status reviews, stand-ups, and stakeholder communications across multiple teams and workstreams.
• Proactively identify project risks, dependencies, and issues, and escalate matters that require leadership intervention.
• Execute projects based on business and technical requirements established by organizational leaders, applying sound judgment to resolve routine ambiguities.
• Prepare and maintain project artifacts and governance documentation, including project charters, RAID logs, status reports, and related deliverables.
• Ensure project information remains accurate and current within Jira, PPM, and related project management tools.
• Coordinate activities involving external vendors, consultants, or third-party partners as needed.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to Project Manager I staff regarding project management processes, documentation standards, and stakeholder engagement practices.
• Contribute information and reporting updates to support program-level reviews, governance checkpoints, and executive reporting activities.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong analytical, planning, and organizational capabilities with experience utilizing spreadsheets, dashboards, and reporting tools to support decision-making.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and business audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships with manager-level stakeholders and growing experience influencing director-level leaders.
• Skilled at balancing competing priorities and managing multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
• Working knowledge of project delivery frameworks, including Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid methodologies.
• Experience using project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Microsoft Project, Excel, or similar platforms.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, Project Management, or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Five to seven years of experience in project management, project coordination, business operations, or related disciplines.
• Strong experience with Jira required!
• Industry experience within Property & Casualty Insurance, Financial Services, Risk Management, or other highly regulated environments is strongly preferred.
• CAPM certification required; PMP certification preferred or actively being pursued.
• Familiarity with risk management practices, regulatory requirements, and compliance considerations within insurance or financial services environments is a plus.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• Hourly contract rate range of $45.00 to $55.00 based on experience and qualifications, as well as geographical market and business considerations.
