The Regional Manager leads and manages a regional area of multiple locations and business groups responsible for profit and loss aligned with overall business plan and corporate guidelines and values. The Regional Manager has overall accountability for ensuring construction projects are performed in a safe and effective manner. This role is fully responsible for cultivating and securing opportunities for future projects by providing excellent customer service, maintaining an injury‑free work environment, ensuring safe work practices, maintaining quality assurance, and building financially successful projects that are driven by company directives. The Regional Manager typically oversees over 35 million dollars in annual revenue volume depending on the types of markets, with Project Executives, Senior Project Managers and Project Managers reporting to them as well as most administrative staff members.
Responsibilities
- Managing all business aspects with their team for multiple concurrent projects while ensuring financial targets are met and established quality standards are maintained.
- Actively managing the workload, professional development, and client development skills of project management staff; promoting client development while developing the professional skills of the team.
- Promoting positive customer relations by dealing professionally and fairly with all contractors, subcontractors, and vendors, and continually instilling this philosophy in the business unit with regards to safety, integrity, quality, customer service, and profitability.
- Initiating, executing, and documenting a quality pre‑construction, start‑up meetings, and close‑outs using the PPM aligned with company standards.
- Being accountable for contract management, claims, and dispute resolutions.
- Working with the Estimating department to review estimates, RECAPs, and turnover, and possessing the ability to estimate and procure electrical projects in a competitive market successfully.
- Acting as a mentor for new and existing Project Executives, Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, and Assistant Project Managers on properly managing their teams and projects.
- Performing weekly and monthly reviews with teams to ensure adherence to schedules, quality of work, safety, integrity, administration, and profitability.
- Ensuring qualified personnel are in place for specific project assignments that will meet project deliverables.
- Scheduling, facilitating, and documenting project start‑up and close‑out meetings using the Project Planning Manual and all available tools; verifying project data sheets and photos (with client’s permission) for all completed projects.
- Driving regional profitability through effective project execution.
- Ensuring programs and procedures are utilized.
- Developing the organization to achieve operational excellence through mutual accountability and continuous improvement; supporting lesson‑learn activity and implementing identified initiatives.
- Ensuring adherence to EC Electric’s standards of integrity, quality, safety, profitability and best practices.
- Recruiting, managing, and developing the group of direct reports.
- Being responsible for work assignments, hiring, termination, promotions, and performance appraisals.
- Reviewing the overall contractual requirements and risks for all projects.
- Managing the project review process with an emphasis on ensuring accurate financial forecasting.
- Providing regional budgets and forecasts.
- Ensuring construction estimates are completed to align with project workflow and the customer’s master schedule.
- Proactively and systematically communicating challenges, risks, and successes to the President, the team, and all direct reports.
- Providing and maintaining annual business plans in conjunction with the overall company, updating results on a quarterly basis.
- Demonstrating a consistent ability to conduct daily tact and professionalism in communicating with external and internal customers.
- Leading market development by identifying and pursuing high‑value commercial and industrial electrical opportunities.
- Establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships with general contractors and community stakeholders.
- Driving regional expansion by overseeing the establishment of a 20,000–35,000 sq/ft off‑site manufacturing facility/prefabrication shop.
- Developing and implementing a business development strategy to secure non‑Data Center clients.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Normally supervises 100+ employees (bargaining and non‑bargaining).
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents; respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community; write speeches and articles; effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems; handle nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs) in its most difficult phases; manage a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
- Master’s degree (MA/MA) from a four‑year degree in Construction Engineering and Management, and 15+ years of experience in electrical construction and/or equivalent combination of education and experience; ideally having a 15‑year (or more) proven track record of successful project results.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, ViewPoint project management software, Bluebeam, and CONEST estimating software, and general internet browsers; expert level time management and organization skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, and the highest level of professionalism.
- Valid driver’s license. PMP preferred but not required. OSHA 30 state electrical licensing.
- Position requires 60–80% travel with overnight travel as needed.
