Registered Nurse - Emergency Room - Full Time 12 Hour Midshift/Evening Shift (Union)

Job Responsibilities Support the Chief Nursing Officer in leading the patient care team by implementing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, care and education planning, interventions, evaluation, and plan revision) to ensure patient safety, recovery, and comfort. Provide education and advocacy while practicing in compliance with CMS, Title 22, CDPH regulations, DNV‑GL/NIAHO standards, and other relevant regulatory requirements. Assist the department manager and director with quality improvement, growth of unit services, teamwork collaboration, and efficient service management to achieve meaningful outcomes. Exercise decision‑making authority within the scope of practice, determining patient acuity using the classification method, making judgments and acting on assessments, and providing a healing environment that prevents harm. Educate patients on their condition, support self‑care actions, report abnormal findings, and ensure safe passage through the episode of care. Assist the charge nurse with shift‑planning delivery of patient care and contribute to overall unit planning and improvement initiatives. Precept, validate competency, and train new hires and nursing students; delegate tasks to RNs, LVNs, and CNAs as appropriate. Coordinate assigned teams, communicate expectations (interventions, reporting), report improvement opportunities, unusual events, and complete other duties as assigned. Qualifications Graduation from a Registered Nurse program (BSN required; if not completed upon hire, must obtain within five years). At least one year of clinical experience in an acute care setting (preferred); experience with orthopedic and stroke patient populations is preferred. Cardiac Cath Lab Nurses: Minimum one year of nursing experience in an acute care setting (ICU, stepdown, or ER) and one year of IR, EP, or cardiac catheterization lab experience (preferred). 6th Floor Med/Surg Employees: Minimum two years of orthopedic and medical‑surgical nursing experience; certification in Medical‑Surgical, Orthopedic, or other specialty preferred. California Registered Nurse license required; clinical specialty or management certification desired. Unit‑specific certifications (e.g., BLS, ACLS, PALS, AB508, NIHSS, NRP, ENPC) must be obtained within the specified timeframes after hire and remain active. Hourly Rate $47.58 to $76.68 per hour.
