Health Services Supervisor

Job Opportunity

The City of Berkeley is seeking a Health Services Supervisor to join the Health, Housing and Community Services (HHCS) Department! Incumbents in this position exercise a high degree of independent judgment in the oversight of day-to-day operations of the public health Division which include health clinics and/or complex health programs. They will have a high degree of accountability and on-going decision-making responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities is:

Equivalent to graduation from a college or university with major coursework in public health, nursing, psychology, health education or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a health professional in a public health agency. Two (2) years supervisory experience, which has included budget and program development, is required.

Other requirements: Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, maintenance of a valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record is required. Must be willing to work evenings or weekends.

Exam Process

The exam process will include, but may not be limited to:

• Application review for minimum qualifications (qualifying experience will be calculated based on the administrative review date)
• Oral Exam (tentatively scheduled for the week of September 7, 2026)

Tests may consist of any combination of written, oral or other exercises or assessment procedures that test content and may include, but are not necessarily limited to, typing, math, reading, writing and analytical skills; problem solving ability; computer and software proficiency, or any other job-related knowledge, skill, ability or qualification. The examination process and dates are subject to change. The City may, without notice, change or eliminate any assessment component as needs dictate. Pre-Employment Process
