ELEMENTARY ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

Elementary Assistant Principal Davie County Schools – Mocksville Elementary School – Mocksville, North Carolina Starting August 2026, for a 10.5‑month term. Job Description Reports to: Principal Supervises: as assigned by the Principal. Purpose: The assistant principal serves as a member of the administrative team to develop and implement the total school program. Duties and Responsibilities Strategic Leadership : School executives will create conditions that result in re‑imagining the school's vision, mission, and goals, fostering a climate of inquiry that challenges the community to continually re‑purpose itself. Instructional Leadership : Set high standards for 21st‑century instruction and assessment, using best practices to create collaborative structures for engaging schoolwork and shared professional development. Cultural Leadership : Understand and act on the role of school culture in performance, supporting traditions, symbols, and values that build identity and pride, and re‑culturing when necessary to align with goals. Human Resource Leadership : Ensure a professional learning community through recruitment, induction, support, evaluation, development, and retention of high‑performing staff. Managerial Leadership : Manage budgeting, staffing, problem solving, communications, and scheduling to organize work routines and meet 21st‑century classroom needs. External Development Leadership : Design structures and processes that foster community engagement, support, and ownership, creating opportunities for parents, community, and business representation. Micro‑Political Leadership : Build systems and relationships that leverage staff diversity and constructive conflict to achieve the school's vision and share decision making. May include managing transportation/buses, coordinating standardized testing, and handling discipline. Minimum Training and Experience Master’s degree in Education Administration, 3–5 years of classroom teaching experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Special Requirements Must possess a teaching certificate from the State of North Carolina and a valid North Carolina driver’s license. Minimum Qualifications or Standards Physical Requirements : Ability to operate a variety of equipment and motor vehicles, lift up to 10 pounds occasionally, stand or walk for extended periods. Data Conception : Compare and judge functional, structural, or composite characteristics of data, people, or objects. Interpersonal Communication : Speak and convey information to subordinates or assistants. Language Ability : Read, write, and understand correspondence, reports, forms, charts, and strategic plans. Intelligence : Apply logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, and draw conclusions. Verbal Aptitude : Record, deliver, and explain information; follow oral and written instructions. Numerical Aptitude : Use mathematical formulas, percentages, and basic algebraic calculations. Form/Spatial Aptitude : Inspect items for proper dimensions. Motor Coordination : Coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately with office equipment. Manual Dexterity : Handle office equipment and hand tools with minimal eye‑hand coordination. Color Discrimination : Differentiate between colors and shades. Interpersonal Temperament : Adapt to stress, emergencies, and complex interpersonal situations. Physical Communication : Talk and hear; communicate via telephone.
