Apartment Community Manager — Affordable Housing
Fargo, ND | Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (occasional after-hours for move‐ins/move‐outs)
Salary: $40,000–$47,000 DOE
Oversees three properties in Fargo; supervises on-site staff (Assistant Community Manager, Leasing, Maintenance, Grounds, Caretaking).

 

About the Role

Hands-on Community Manager to run daily operations for three affordable housing communities: lead staff, manage budgets and rent collection, support compliance, maintain high occupancy, and keep properties safe, clean, and market‐ready.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Manage budgets, rent collection, vendor invoices, and reporting
• Drive occupancy through marketing and leasing oversight
• Oversee lease execution, resident files, and emergency response
• Lead, train, and schedule on-site teams
• Ensure maintenance, curb appeal, safety, and timely unit turnover

Highly relevant:

• On-site property staff (Assistant Manager, Leasing, Maintenance, Grounds)
• Multi-site/retail or restaurant managers, branch/store managers
• Social services / case management / resident services
• Facilities or trades (building engineer, maintenance, HVAC, construction)
• Accounting/office administration (bookkeeping, collections, office manager)
• Leasing/real estate professionals

 

Also encouraged to apply (no direct property experience needed):

• Hospitality and hotel front desk/operations
• Customer service team leads and call center supervisors
• Education/childcare, healthcare support, or nonprofit coordinators
  If you have strong customer service, team leadership, and are comfortable with basic budgets and paperwork, we can train you on property-specific skills.

 

Qualifications

• Property management or related leadership experience preferred, but not required
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and basic financial skills
• Ability to coordinate multiple sites and support a diverse on-site team
• Occasional after-hours availability for move‐ins/move‐outs
• Affordable housing (LIHTC/HUD) knowledge and Fair Housing training a plus; we can provide training for the right candidate
