Staff Accountant

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Anaheim, CA with a growing automotive service and retail organization. This role supports accounting operations across multiple corporate-owned locations and is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys variety, high-volume transactional work, and partnering with leadership in a fast-paced, multi-location environment.

The Staff Accountant will work closely with senior finance leadership and operational teams to maintain accurate financial records, support the close cycle, strengthen accounting controls, and help improve processes as the organization continues to expand. Key Responsibilities

- Prepare journal entries and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, general ledger accounts, balance sheet accounts, and subsidiary ledgers.
- Process full-cycle accounts payable, including invoice coding, approvals, payment processing, check runs, vendor records, and vendor statement reconciliations.
- Manage full-cycle accounts receivable, including invoicing, payment posting, customer account reconciliations, past-due follow-up, and collections escalation.
- Support inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, inventory reconciliations, physical count support, and variance research across multiple locations.
- Partner cross-functionally to resolve accounting discrepancies, respond to audit requests, and help improve accounting processes and reporting accuracy.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay Range: $27.00 to $32.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Job Type: Temp-to-Hire.
- Location: Anaheim, CA.
- Work Arrangement: In-office.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Support general accounting operations across multiple corporate-owned locations.
- Manage AP, AR, reconciliations, journal entries, inventory accounting, and close cycle activities.
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies, vendor issues, customer payment concerns, and inventory variances.
- Partner with finance leadership and operational teams to ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.

- 2+ years of accounting experience with direct accounts payable and accounts receivable responsibility.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Solid understanding of core accounting principles, including debits and credits, accruals, reconciliations, and general ledger activity.
- Experience working in a high-volume accounting environment supporting multiple entities or locations.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines independently.
- Clear communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and follow up professionally on sensitive items, including collections.
- Comfortable working directly with senior finance leadership and adapting to evolving reporting needs.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in a retail, automotive, manufacturing, distribution, or multi-location business environment.
- Experience with MS Dynamics Great Plains.
- Experience with QuickBooks and/or NetSuite.
- Background supporting inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, shrinkage research, or physical inventory counts.
- Experience identifying process improvements in a growing or scaling organization.
