[HYBRID] Accounting Manager (accounting & management exp. req.) Description

Our client, a growing environmental services organization, is seeking a Hybrid Accounting Manager to join their team in Detroit. Following the promotion of their Controller into a VP of Finance role, they are seeking a hands-on accounting leader to help support the continued growth of the organization. In this role, you will oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end closing, and a team of three supervisors across accounting, accounts payable, and procurement. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical accounting expertise, the ability to partner closely with operations, and comfort working in a fast-paced environment where processes and systems continue to evolve. [HYBRID] Accounting Manager (accounting & people management exp. req.) Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop members of the accounting team (3 direct reports)
• Oversee daily accounting operations and financial reporting activities
• Manage general ledger accounting and month-end close processes
• Provide oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions
• Ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Support audit readiness and compliance initiatives
• Oversee accounting related to contracts, project-based revenue, and cost allocations
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
• Monitor program and operational financial performance
• Drive process improvements across accounting and finance functions
• Support system enhancements, automation efforts, and workflow efficiencies

[HYBRID] Accounting Manager (accounting & people management exp. req.) Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required
• 2+ years of people leadership experience required
• 6+ years of accounting experience required
• Strong knowledge of accrual accounting and financial reporting required
• Advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUPs required
