Critical Operations Technician I

About the Role Join QTS’s Facilities Operations team as a Critical Operations Technician, responsible for maintaining mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and IT equipment in our data centers. This role supports a 24×7×365 environment on-site and does not offer remote or hybrid work options. Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and IT equipment, recording readings and adjusting operations as needed. Install and repair IT, mechanical, and electrical equipment, including cabinetry, cabling, and customer’s hardware. Provide high‑level computer hardware and software configuration support. Process work orders for preventive and corrective maintenance and update tickets in the established ticketing system. Respond to building emergencies and customer requests promptly. Maintain departmental policies for safe storage, use, and disposal of hazardous materials. Use the Change Management Process to obtain approval for maintenance tasks and document all work outcomes. Qualifications Two or more years of technical or trade training, military training, or workplace equivalency. Background in facilities maintenance, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or IT hardware or cabling. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Preferred: One or more years of experience in a data‑center, commercial, or industrial environment.
