PRN / Part-Time Infusion Pharmacist

Location: Orland Park, IL | Chicagoland Area
Schedule: PRN / Part-Time | Onsite
Compensation: $55–$80/Hour (Based on Experience)

Position Overview

Our client, a locally owned specialty and home infusion pharmacy , is seeking a PRN / Part-Time Infusion Pharmacist to support pharmacy operations at its Orland Park location.

This role will work closely with the Pharmacist-in-Charge and clinical team to support medication review, sterile compounding oversight, prescription verification, patient care, and regulatory compliance .

The ideal candidate has experience in home infusion, specialty pharmacy, hospital infusion, or sterile compounding and is comfortable working in a hands-on, growing pharmacy environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and verify infusion prescriptions, medication orders, laboratory results, and patient-specific therapy information.
• Perform clinical reviews for dosing, compatibility, stability, drug interactions, and therapy appropriateness.
• Verify compounded sterile preparations, calculations, ingredients, labels, and final products before release.
• Provide pharmacist oversight of sterile compounding activities in accordance with USP standards and applicable pharmacy regulations .
• Counsel patients, caregivers, nurses, and providers regarding medications, administration, storage, and treatment expectations.
• Document clinical interventions, communications, and pharmacist activities accurately.
• Support daily pharmacy workflow, prescription verification, inventory management, and issue resolution.
• Assist with patient onboarding, referrals, prior authorizations, and insurance-related coordination.
• Communicate with physicians, nurses, referral partners, and internal teams regarding patient therapies and clinical needs.
• Support quality improvement initiatives, audits, regulatory compliance, and pharmacy growth.
• Provide additional pharmacist coverage for vacations, staffing needs, and periods of increased volume.

Infusion Therapy Experience

Experience with one or more of the following is preferred:

• Parenteral nutrition.
• Anti-infective therapies.
• Biologics.
• Hydration therapy.
• Immunoglobulin therapy.
• Other specialty or chronic infusion therapies.

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted Illinois Pharmacist License .
• Pharm.D. or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited program.
• Experience in home infusion, specialty pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, ambulatory infusion, or another complex pharmacy setting .
• Knowledge of sterile compounding and applicable USP standards .
• Ability to review and verify compounded sterile preparations.
• Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with healthcare professionals.
• Reliable transportation and ability to work onsite in Orland Park, IL .

Preferred Experience

• Home infusion or specialty pharmacy experience.
• Sterile compounding experience.
• Prior pharmacy leadership or management experience.
• Pharmacist-in-Charge experience.
• Experience coordinating complex infusion therapies with physicians, nurses, patients, and payers.
