Lead Mechanical Engineer PE (Group Manager) - MEP Consulting Location: Kansas City, MO Salary: $125,000 - $155,000 per year Full‑time, permanent position offering a competitive compensation package and the opportunity to work in a fast‑paced, high‑tech environment. Key Responsibilities Mechanical Systems Design, Engineering, and Project Management. Represent the firm in client meetings, supervise projects from concept through completion, and serve as the technical lead by delegating work and mentoring staff. Provide design review and QA/QC oversight. Develop and test all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. Apply engineering principles to design products such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, and machines. Conduct product testing, create models and prototypes, and oversee the manufacturing process. Perform research to determine best manufacturing practices. Work with the team to manage projects, prepare reports summarizing progress, and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, vendors, and contractors. Perform complex calculations to develop manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications. Inspect installations and observe operations to ensure compliance with design and safety standards. Use computer‑assisted engineering software (AutoCAD) for engineering tasks. Support management in project planning and developing engineering solutions to complex issues. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Must hold a Professional Engineer license (P.E.). 8‑10 years of experience delivering projects for clients in commercial, healthcare, mission critical/data centers, municipal & federal, transportation/infrastructure, education, and hospitality sectors. Proficiency in 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools such as AutoCAD, ProE, or similar. Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes and understanding of mechanical material properties. Ability to run simulations, analyze test data, and write clear technical documentation. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office. Excellent decision‑making, analytical, problem‑solving, and creative skills. Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining strict attention to detail and meet deadlines. Excellent leadership, team management, verbal, and written communication skills.
