LPN Profession: LPN/LVN (Licensed Practical Nurse)

Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift: 12 Hours Hours per Shift: Any 12-hour shift, Sunday through Saturday. On-call as needed.

Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required. License: LPN Licensure in Alaska required. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required. Must-Have: 1 year of nursing experience in Long Term Care preferred. If a new graduate, an 8-12 month preceptorship is required.

Description: The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care to residents to promote comfort and enhance their overall quality of life. The LPN is an integral part of our interdisciplinary team of caregivers. This position includes the responsibility of providing clinical leadership to the Resident Assistants. The LPN will provide leadership and oversight to the subordinate nursing staff, including Resident Assistants. Coaching, training, and educating staff on proper nursing techniques and procedures is a key function. Professional care will be provided to residents in accordance with facility policies and procedures, professional nursing standards, and state and federal regulations. The LPN will follow each resident's individual plan of care to improve the quality of life of each resident. The LPN is responsible for preventing and reducing negative occurrences for residents through effective care, demonstrated by strong assessment skills and accurate administration of prescribed orders and medications. The LPN will practice a philosophy of care that promotes respect and dignity for all residents. An acute awareness of safety policies and procedures will be essential in performing work duties. Universal precautions will be utilized when delivering care, regardless of each resident's condition. The LPN is responsible for providing a safe environment for residents. Safety issues and concerns for residents, visitors, staff, and self must be communicated effectively. Attendance at safety education sessions is required.
