Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years required; will consider acute oncology/hematology experience License: Current nursing license required Certifications: BCLS required Preferred certifications include ONS, BMTCN, OCN Must-Have: Phlebotomy skills are a must Candidate is required to bring their own stethoscope Description: This position is for a registered nurse in a classical hematology unit. The clinic focuses on benign hematology, including bleeding disorders, hemophilia, anemia, sickle cell disease, and DVTs. Malignant hematology and oncology patients are not seen in this clinic. The average daily census is 70 patients. Nurses will be responsible for rooming patients, performing phlebotomy, and providing central line care. Assisting with bone marrow biopsies, offering vaccinations, conducting EKGs, and performing phone triage are also required. Nurses will facilitate scheduling patients for necessary infusions and provide patient education and case management. RNs may work with both malignant and non-malignant hematology teams. Manual differentials are performed by lab personnel, not RNs. Candidates should be open to floating within the facility as required. Chemotherapy and infusions are not performed in this setting. The clinic is closed on holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day, and Martin Luther King Day. No call or weekend requirements are associated with this position. Navy blue scrubs are required, but are not provided.
