Job Description: SAP Cloud ERP, Business Consultant – Sales (SD)

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SAP Cloud ERP (S/4HANA Cloud, Public Edition) Business Consultant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background working with S/4HANA Cloud, Public Edition capabilities, best practices, and implementation strategies or similar experience. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless connectivity between various systems, enhancing business processes, and driving digital transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Consultation & Strategy

• Collaborate with end customers to understand business processes and requirements.
• Develop and provide expert guidance on SAP Cloud ERP capabilities, best practices, and implementation strategies.

Implementation & Configuration

• Lead the design, configuration, and implementation of SAP Cloud ERP, Public Edition solutions using the SAP Activate Methodology.
• Ensure solutions align with end customers' needs and requirements and SAP Fit to Standard best practices.
• Manage timelines and deliverables to ensure successful project completion.
• Navigate and manage multiple implementation projects in parallel.
• Fit-to-Standard delivery in the Public Edition - Practical understanding of what the Public Edition allows: standard scope items and best-practice process flows, self-service configuration, key-user extensibility, released APIs and events for integration, output management, and the discipline of designing to standard within a semiannual release cycle.

Collaboration & Communication

• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, analysts, and project managers, to deliver cohesive solutions.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, ensuring clear understanding of project scopes, timelines, and deliverables.

Training & Documentation

• Develop and deliver training sessions for end-users and stakeholders.
• Create detailed documentation for system configurations and processes.

Support & Organization

• Provide ongoing support and maintenance of SAP Cloud ERP, Public Edition systems after completion of the initial implementation.
• Identify opportunities for system enhancements and optimization to improve business processes.

Line of Business Experience:

• Core Order-to-Cash process in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition: Hands-on configuration and delivery of the end-to-end sell-side process — sales order capture, availability check, outbound delivery, picking, goods issue, and billing.
• Sales Contracts: Working knowledge of quantity and value contracts: contract types and item categories, validity periods and target quantities or values, and release (call-off) orders against a contract.
• Sales Scheduling Agreements: Experience with scheduling agreement processing: forecast and just-in-time delivery schedules, delivery creation from schedule lines.
• Back Order Processing: Practical experience with the availability check: Product allocation, backorder processing (BOP) variants and segments, confirmation strategies (Win, Gain, Redistribute, Fill, Lose), prioritization and sorting rules, alternative-based confirmation, release for delivery, and the business conversations required to agree how scarce supply is allocated across customers.
• Customer Returns and refunds: Command of the returns: Returns order with reference to the original order or invoice, return reasons, inspection and refund control, returns delivery and receipt into blocked or unrestricted stock, follow-up activities such as scrapping, restocking or immediate refund, and the resulting credit memo and financial postings.
• Service Orders and service-related billing: Working knowledge of Service Management in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition and how it connects to the Order-to-Cash process and the flow from confirmation into a service billing request and a customer invoice. Familiarity with service contracts and solution orders.
• Milestone and periodic billing plans: Configuration and use of billing plans — milestone billing tied to the completion of defined events, periodic billing for recurring charges, down payment requests, billing blocks and their release, and the controls that keep unbilled revenue visible. Ability to explain to a customer how milestone dates, percentages, and release rules translate into invoices and revenue.
• Customer billing and invoicing: Depth in billing document types and categories, collective billing and invoice split criteria, invoice lists, credit and debit memo processing , invoice corrections, cancellations, output determination and invoice form output, and the handoff into Accounts Receivable.
• Sales master data and pricing: Solid grounding in business partner roles for customers, customer-material information records, listing and exclusion, and the pricing condition technique — price, discount, surcharge, freight and tax condition types, condition records and their maintenance, free goods, and credit limit checks through SAP Credit Management.
• Integrating external systems with SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition: Strong track record connecting third-party systems — e-commerce storefronts, third-party logistics and warehouse providers, and customer portals.
• EDI experience: Practical experience running EDI with trading partners against S/4HANA Cloud — inbound purchase orders and order changes creating and updating sales orders, order acknowledgements, advance shipping notices from outbound deliveries, and outbound invoices.
• Reporting and analytics for sales: Fluency with embedded analytics and the standard Fiori analytical apps for sales — order fulfillment issues, incomplete and blocked orders, backorder and allocation views, billing due lists, and sales performance and margin reporting — Ability to translate a customer's reporting request into the right standard tool using CDS Views.

Qualifications:

Education

• A bachelor's degree in information technology, business administration, or a related field.

Experience

• 5+ years of experience with SAP Cloud ERP implementations.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Location

• Remote in North America with some travel required. You work from home but must travel to customer sites for major milestones—expecting an average of one 3-day trip per month typically inside the USA.
