Haul Truck Driver

Tilcon New York Inc., a CRH company, is seeking a Haul Truck Driver for a 2nd shift position at our Pompton Lakes Quarry. This role involves safely and efficiently driving and operating a truck equipped with a dump body to transport and dump materials such as sand, dirt, gravel, and stone. The position requires conducting daily pre- and post-shift inspection procedures, assessing road conditions, and operating in various weather conditions.

Core responsibilities include:

• Conducting daily pre- and post-shift inspection procedures.
• Continuously examining road conditions for debris, potholes, other equipment, pedestrians, etc., and assessing slope stability.
• Driving up stockpiles in most weather conditions and at night under flood lights.
• Pulling levers and turning cranks to tilt the body and dump contents.
• Moving hand and foot controls to move the truck forward and backward to loosen and dump material adhering to the body.
• Communicating and cooperating with all personnel.
• Wearing hardhat, safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, gloves, hearing protection, and respirator as needed.
• Being willing to work overtime and weekends as required by the manager.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or 3+ years of practical work experience.
• Ability to operate safely.
• Intermediate knowledge of equipment to operate safely and efficiently.
• Ability to identify equipment service needs.
• Ability to carry out simple oral and written instructions.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Ability to communicate with loader operator, other team members, and other drivers.
• Successful completion of MSHA training (upon hire).
• Ability to read English.

• Tolerate working at heights.

Physical Requirements:

• Continuously move right and left, use repetitive motions, and frequently reach.
• Continuously drive in a stationary position.
• Frequently ascend/descend ladders or stairs.
• Regularly move body in and out of trucks.
• Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
• Occasionally lower oneself down, rise to a higher position, remain stationary, move, and utilize fine motor skills.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust to focus.

Work Environment:

• Continuously exposed to noise, moving equipment, dust, and work with others.
• Frequently exposed to hot, cold, wet, and humid weather conditions.
• Occasionally exposed to high heat and wintery/muddy conditions.
