Robert Half Contract Finance and Accounting is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our client in Reno, Nevada on a long-term contract. This position is well suited for someone who can independently manage complex accounting activities, contribute to accurate financial reporting, and partner closely with accounting leadership in a dynamic multi-entity environment. The role offers the opportunity to support core accounting operations while helping strengthen controls, improve workflows, and provide insight on project-related financial matters.

Responsibilities:

• Lead critical close-cycle activities by preparing and reviewing entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for monthly and annual reporting.

• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger through detailed analysis of accounts, investigation of variances, and timely resolution of discrepancies.

• Contribute to financial reporting across multiple entities by ensuring transactions are recorded correctly and aligned with applicable reporting structures.

• Oversee accounts payable accuracy and compliance by reviewing transactions, monitoring documentation, and reinforcing established controls.

• Examine wire transfer activity to confirm approvals, validate supporting records, and uphold internal control standards.

• Support accounting for construction, development, and Greenfield-related projects, including tracking costs and assisting with project-based reporting needs.

• Partner with operational and cross-functional stakeholders to determine appropriate accounting treatment for business activities and ensure reliable reporting outcomes.

• Recommend and implement process enhancements that improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency within accounting workflows.

• Provide analytical support for special projects and other ad hoc assignments while helping address day-to-day accounting priorities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including work at a senior accountant level or in a similarly advanced role.
• Strong command of month-end close procedures, general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Experience performing bank reconciliations and balance sheet account analysis with a high level of accuracy.
• Background working in multi-entity organizations or other complex reporting environments is preferred.
• Exposure to project, construction, real estate, or development accounting is considered an advantage.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to organize, analyze, and validate financial data effectively.
• Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced setting.
