Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Thoracic Cardiac Vascular Surgical Unit – Virginia

Start Date: October 12, 2026

Location: Charlottesville, Virginia

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Night shift, 13-week assignment. Choice of 36 or 48 hours per week. Every other weekend and every other holiday required. Block scheduling cannot be accommodated.

Highlights:

• 28-bed specialty unit featuring 22 acute care beds and 6 intermediate care (IMU) beds dedicated to thoracic, cardiac, and vascular surgical patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 4-5:1 on acute care side and 3:1 in the intermediate care unit
• Diverse patient population including CABG, valve replacements, lung resections, esophagectomies, heart and lung transplants, vascular procedures, and more
• Epic EMR system required; 36 hours of orientation provided
• Advanced nursing skills including arterial lines, chest tubes, nurse-driven heparin protocols, cardiac drips, and independent ECG performance
• Up to 40 hours of time off available (not available around July 4th)

Requirements:

• Active Virginia RN license (pending licenses accepted if in hand by Wednesday before start date)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience required
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Experience with telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• BSN degree preferred
• Flu vaccination required (no exemptions)
• Must be willing to float within scope of practice as needed
