Accounting Assistant Temporary to Hire

NorthBay Recruiter is partnering with a Sonoma-based organization to hire an Accounting Assistant to provide day-to-day support to its Accounting Department. This temporary-to-hire opportunity is well suited for someone with accounting or administrative experience who is comfortable working with detailed information, processing transactions, maintaining accurate records, and supporting recurring accounting activities.

Reporting to the CFO, the Accounting Assistant will assist with accounts receivable, invoicing, cash receipts, data entry, order documentation, and general accounting support. The position requires the ability to manage recurring responsibilities, meet established deadlines, and maintain accurate and organized financial records.

Key Responsibilities

• Process customer invoices and related accounts receivable documentation.
• Review invoices and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Distribute customer invoices and maintain related accounting records.
• Support accounts receivable activities, including processing and organizing invoices, reports, packing lists, and other documentation.
• Assist with daily sales order and packing list processing.
• Maintain accurate electronic and physical accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Assist with processing customer payments, including checks, wire transfers, and electronic payments.
• Match incoming payments to the appropriate customer invoices.
• Enter and post cash receipts and assist with deposit processing.
• Maintain customer credit and invoice documentation as needed.
• Prepare and distribute reports and other accounting-related documents.
• Provide general administrative and accounting support to the Accounting Department.
• Assist with additional accounting projects and responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous accounting, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or related administrative experience preferred.
• Familiarity with invoicing, cash receipts, accounts receivable, or transaction processing is helpful.
• Comfortable working with numbers, financial records, and detailed documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet established deadlines.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and follow established accounting processes and procedures.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Position Details

This is a temporary-to-hire position with an hourly rate of $27.00 per hour. The position is onsite in Sonoma, CA, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
