General Psychiatry Residency Program Director - Psychiatrist

Overview MaineHealth Behavioral Health (MHBH) is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE), fellowship‑trained, board‑certified Psychiatrist to join the Department of Psychiatry at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Portland (MHMMCP). This role offers a unique hybrid opportunity, combining leadership and clinical practice. The selected candidate will serve as the General Psychiatry Residency Program Director (0.5 FTE) while also providing psychiatric clinical care (0.5 FTE). This position supports a diverse patient population across both rural and urban communities. Portland, Maine – Maine's largest metro. Responsibilities The Program Director has full responsibility, authority, and accountability for program administration and operations; teaching and scholarly activity; resident recruitment and selection; evaluation, promotion, and discipline; supervision; and faculty development. The Program Director is charged with developing and maintaining a training plan aligned with ACGME Common and Program‑Specific Requirements and ensuring that all aspects of the program meet accreditation standards. There are robust opportunities to grow and develop teaching experiences and work with both residents and medical students. Minimum Qualifications Graduate of Allopathic or Osteopathic Medical School. Completion of internship and psychiatric residency and/or fellowship training Current or eligible licensure as a physician by the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine Current certification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or by the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry Current DEA Registration Certificate Psychiatry specialty expertise and at least three years of documented educational and/or administrative experience Benefits & Compensation Competitive compensation package including sign‑on bonus, relocation assistance, CME expense reimbursement, and malpractice insurance.
