Buyer ILocation: Los Angeles, CA Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Schedule: 9/80 Schedule, Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM, with alternating Fridays off Work Arrangement: Hybrid Position Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Buyer I to support procurement operations for a large public-sector organization in Los Angeles. This position is responsible for purchasing materials, supplies, equipment, and services while ensuring compliance with established procurement policies, procedures, and documentation , strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage purchase orders, vendor communications, delivery schedules, and procurement documentation in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Key Responsibilities -Process purchase orders for materials, supplies, equipment, services, and minor construction-related purchases. -Draft and execute purchase orders, blanket agreements, contracts, and related procurement documents. -Source materials, supplies, and equipment based on specifications and operational requirements. -Obtain and evaluate supplier pricing and negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to achieve the best overall value. -Monitor purchase order status, delivery schedules, and expected receipt dates. -Expedite orders and work directly with vendors to resolve delays, backorders, shortages, and delivery issues. -Investigate and resolve purchasing, invoicing, contract, and documentation discrepancies. -Review bid documents and procurement packages for completeness, accuracy, and compliance. -Maintain accurate purchasing records, contract files, and supporting documentation for audit purposes. -Communicate purchasing status, delivery information, and procurement updates to internal customers and stakeholders. -Prepare procurement reports and maintain purchasing information within automated procurement and financial systems. -Coordinate with internal departments, vendors, and cross-functional teams to support efficient procurement operations. -Manage multiple purchasing priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting established deadlines. Required Qualifications -Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field. -Minimum of 2 years of professional purchasing, procurement, or Buyer experience. -Hands-on experience preparing and processing purchase orders. -Experience drafting and executing purchase orders, contracts, blanket agreements, or similar procurement documents. -Experience negotiating supplier pricing, terms, and conditions. -Experience monitoring purchase orders, expediting deliveries, and resolving purchasing exceptions. -Experience maintaining procurement records and documentation to support audit and compliance requirements. -Knowledge of public purchasing policies, procurement procedures, or government purchasing practices. -Experience using automated procurement, purchasing, or ERP systems. -Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word. -Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills. -Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment. -Ability to work collaboratively with vendors, internal customers, and cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications -Previous experience supporting public-sector or government procurement operations. -Experience purchasing materials, equipment, warehouse inventory, or construction-related goods and services. -Familiarity with procurement compliance and audit documentation requirements. -Experience reviewing bid documents, quotations, and solicitation packages. -Experience working with enterprise procurement and financial management systems. -Experience supporting high-volume purchasing operations.
