eDiscovery Director

Our client, a leading global law firm, is seeking a U.S. eDiscovery Director to serve as a senior eDiscovery subject matter expert and trusted advisor to partners, attorneys, clients, and innovation teams. This highly visible role will focus on strengthening the firm’s eDiscovery profile, developing client and partner relationships, supporting business development and pitches, producing thought leadership, and providing expert guidance across the EDRM, including data collection, processing, review, production, defensible workflows, and emerging AI capabilities. The ideal candidate will bring extensive eDiscovery experience, Relativity Master certification, deep RelativityOne and Relativity aiR expertise, strong technical knowledge, and the credibility and commercial awareness to engage with senior legal stakeholders while remaining involved in delivery. This is a hybridposition based in New York, with an expectation of significant in-office presence while relationships are established.

Role Overview

• Serve as a senior subject matter expert across the firm’s eDiscovery function
• Provide expert guidance on eDiscovery technology, workflows, data, and emerging AI capabilities
• Develop efficient workflows using advanced technology and provide technical guidance to attorneys, clients, and other stakeholders
• Build trusted relationships with partners and clients to strengthen the firm’s eDiscovery profile and capture available business opportunities
• Develop and deliver educational programs, presentations, marketing materials, and thought leadership related to eDiscovery and emerging technology
• Collaborate closely with global eDiscovery colleagues, attorneys, Innovation teams, business functions, and external technology providers
• This position is based in New York and reports to the eDiscovery Executive Director

Key Responsibilities

• Drive eDiscovery business by developing trusted relationships with partners, attorneys, and external clients
• Provide expert guidance on current eDiscovery technologies, including generative AI capabilities used for data culling, document review, and identifying key information
• Design and implement efficient and defensible workflows for litigation, investigations, cyber matters, and other data-focused engagements
• Advise on the appropriate scope and methodology for data collections, including when third-party forensic providers should be engaged
• Evaluate, test, and assist with implementing new eDiscovery and legal technologies
• Develop and present engaging educational programs for attorneys and other stakeholders across the firm’s global network
• Create presentations, documentation, and other materials supporting internal and external marketing initiatives
• Contribute to thought leadership and help strengthen the visibility of the firm’s eDiscovery capabilities
• Continuously develop and improve best practices while sharing knowledge across the global eDiscovery team
• Identify and proactively address potential business and operational risks

Key Requirements

• Extensive eDiscovery experience within a law firm or comparable professional services environment
• Relativity Master designation required
• Deep experience with Relativity and the Relativity aiR suite of AI capabilities
• Strong technical understanding of eDiscovery workflows across the data lifecycle
• Deep knowledge of forensic data collection tools, techniques, and methodologies
• Strong understanding of IT platforms commonly involved in discovery matters
• Knowledge of applicable Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and relevant regulatory requirements
• Excellent client relationship management and service orientation
• Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building abilities
• Ability to operate as a credible senior eDiscovery advisor to partners, attorneys, and clients
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
• Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Excellent organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills
• Flexibility to work outside standard business hours when necessary
• Ability and willingness to travel to other offices as required
• Degree in Law, Computer Science, or another relevant discipline is advantageous

Expected salary for this role is $230,000 - $292,000, commensurate with experience, training, skills, qualifications, and other market factors.
