Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid credentials or certification for teaching special education in a school setting
• Experience working in elementary or high school special education preferred
• Familiarity with alternate curriculum classrooms and life skills programming
• Strong ability to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse learner needs
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive classroom atmosphere
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s strengths and needs
• Provide direct instruction and modify the curriculum to support functional and academic skill development
• Facilitate social, behavioral, and life skills training using evidence-based strategies
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and family members to optimize student success
• Track and document student progress, maintaining accurate records in accordance with district and state guidelines
• Participate in parent conferences and multidisciplinary team meetings
