Your schedule and offer

• 1st shift: Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
• Pay: $25–$33 per hour, based on experience

A day in the life

At 7:30 a.m. you’re selecting raw stock and mapping out the approach for a new custom extrusion die. You program toolpaths in Mastercam, set up the CNC lathe and mill (both conversational controls and full CNC), and cut one-off components to exacting tolerances. Mid-morning, you pivot to the Fanuc Wire EDM to generate intricate profiles, performing routine maintenance and diagnosing issues as needed. After lunch, you grind the seating surfaces to finish, confer with Engineering to refine manufacturability, and jump in for an urgent die repair—even when blueprints are scarce. Before wrap-up, you coach a junior machinist, run a quick-turn feature on a manual mill, and help keep shop maintenance, inventory, and preventive maintenance on track—all while upholding safety, cleanliness, and quality.

What you will own

• Full lifecycle fabrication of custom extrusion dies—from material choice through CNC machining and final grinding of seating surfaces
• Programming, setup, and operation of CNC lathes and mills using Mastercam to hold tight tolerances on one-off parts (conversational and full CNC)
• Programming, setup, and operation of Fanuc Wire EDM for complex die geometries, including routine maintenance and troubleshooting
• Partnering with Engineering to interpret drawings, improve manufacturability, and support custom tooling development
• Serving as the senior go-to for urgent troubleshooting, repairs, and modifications—even with limited or no prints
• Using manual mills and lathes for quick repairs, secondary ops, and overflow CNC work
• Mentoring junior machinists; assisting with shop upkeep, inventory control, and preventive maintenance programs
• Maintaining a safe, orderly work area and meeting quality standards
• Demonstrating professionalism and strong teamwork across all levels and with customers

What you bring

• High school diploma or GED
• 5+ years of hands-on CNC programming, setup, and machining
• Deep familiarity with industrial controls and multi-axis CNC machinery
• Ability to read complex prints, engineering drawings, and specs to develop efficient processes
• Comfort with precision metrology: micrometers, bore gauges, indicators, calipers, and optical comparators
• Ability to interpret safety procedures, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, and technical documentation
• Solid math foundation: geometry, trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
