The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of and ability to apply principles of nursing care.Assigned Duties of Infection PreventionistThe Infection Preventionist is responsible for the implementation and review of the facility's infection prevention program and the antibiotic stewardship program.Responsibilities include:Conducts rounds, discusses and monitors infection prevention practices with staff membersCollects infection data from residents and departmentsMaintains records for each health care associated infectionConducts outbreak investigationTrains staff members on implementation of infection prevention practicesEnsures availability of supplies required for infection prevention activitiesEnsure completion of surveillance forms for infectionsImplementation of the antibiotic stewardship program/monthly meetingShift: M-F (Flexibility with work schedules such as on weekends and extra shifts)Salary: $41.00- $43.00 per hour based on experience.Requirements/Qualifications:Current license as a Vocational Nurse in California. Current CPRGraduation from an accredited school of professional nursing or from a national or state- approved school of vocational nursingAbility to converse in a professional manner with doctors, residents, staff members and peersAbility to transcribe and articulate detailed information in a professional manner to meet rules and regulations for long-term careDemonstrate knowledge of and ability to apply basic principles of nursing careExperience and/or education in the care of the aged, chronically ill, restorative nursing, psychiatric nursing, and supervisionOne or more years' experience as a staff nurse is desirableAbility to develop and maintain good working relationships with personnel and residentDemonstrates evidence of interest in continuous professional growth. Possesses a genuine interest and ability to work with geriatric and disabled personsDemonstrates a willingness and ability to work under supervision and to supervise persons assisting in resident carePossesses initiative, dependability and skill in recognition and identification of symptoms and treatment responsesPossesses resourcefulness in emergency situationsPossesses genuine respect for others and acceptance of their individual social and cultural traits*Offer of employment is contingent upon successful fingerprint clearance through Department of Justice, background check, physical exam, TB, drug screen.
