Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering), Assistant Professor

California State Polytechnic University, Pomona invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Civil Engineering. Cal Poly Pomona is one of three polytechnic universities in the 22-campus California State University system and among 12 such institutions nationwide. Student Population. Cal Poly Pomona is the number one polytechnic university in the nation for student diversity and economic mobility. Position description: The Civil Engineering Department at Cal Poly Pomona invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Structural Engineering beginning in Fall 2027. The department is particularly interested in candidates who bring forward-thinking perspectives to structural engineering education, scholarship, and professional practice.

While the position is primarily intended for appointment at the Assistant Professor level, candidates with substantial academic, research, and professional accomplishments may be considered for tenure-track appointment at the Associate Professor rank.

The successful candidate will:

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in structural engineering and related civil engineering areas. Teaching assignments will be based on departmental needs and may include lower-division, upper-division, laboratory, and graduate-level courses.

• Establish an active scholarly agenda, pursuing externally funded research and applied projects, mentoring student research, and collaborating with industry and academic partners.
