This is an opportunity to support internal communications and employee engagement initiatives while also advancing critical communications, marketing, media relations, and advocacy efforts that strengthen brand awareness, engage communities, and advance Good Shepherd Food Bank's mission across the state. This role will play an important part in helping employees stay informed, connected, and engaged while supporting communications efforts both internally and externally. Annual Pay: $58,000-$60,000
Location: Remote work arrangement with quarterly in-office collaboration required in Auburn, Maine

Responsibilities

Support Internal Communications & Employee Engagement

• Coordinate communications that keep employees informed, connected, and engaged.
• Draft and distribute employee newsletters, announcements, and internal messaging.
• Maintain internal communications calendars and resources.
• Partner across departments to build relationships, gather information, and identify stories worth sharing
• Help ensure messaging is consistent, timely, and aligned with organizational priorities.

Strengthen Media Relations & Public Awareness Efforts

• Draft press releases, media advisories, talking points, and other communications materials.
• Maintain media contact lists and monitor media coverage.
• Create monthly media coverage and press clip reports.
• Coordinate media inquiries, interviews, and related logistics.
• Identify compelling stories involving staff, volunteers, community partners, and supporters.
• Support crisis communications planning and response efforts as needed.

Support Advocacy & Community Engagement

• Assist with communications that advance public policy and advocacy priorities.
• Develop educational, informative, and engaging digital content.
• Help build and maintain advocacy-focused communications audiences.
• Update online advocacy resources and calls to action.
• Coordinate communications related to legislative sessions, advocacy campaigns, public awareness initiatives, and community events.
• Ensure advocacy messaging aligns with organizational brand standards and communications goals.

Enhance Brand Visibility & Content Development

• Coordinate marketing projects across digital, print, email, and social media channels.
• Assist with campaign planning, content development, and project execution.
• Maintain brand consistency across communications and marketing materials.
• Support the creation of presentations, brochures, signage, promotional materials, and campaign assets.
• Manage the backend of the organization's Shopify store and assist with branded merchandise initiatives.

Coordinate Communications Projects & Administrative Support

• Develop communications calendars and project timelines.
• Coordinate with vendors, printers, photographers, and creative partners.
• Support budget tracking, invoice processing, and departmental administration.
• Assist with additional communications and marketing projects as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, content creation, or a related field.
• Ability to build strong working relationships across departments and confidently gather information, stories, and insights from a variety of stakeholders.
• Exceptional written, editing, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and project management abilities.
• Experience creating content for digital and print communications.
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience using email marketing platforms, website content management systems, and social media management tools.
• Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design platforms.
