Nature Of Work

The Control Room Crew will provide live sports TV and video production support on all Denver Summit FC home match days. They will be responsible for the timeliness of the show, and work in step with the Producer to ensure a seamless show each match day. Each control room crew member will run a specific position as a part-time employee, as assigned by the Director of Match Presentation.

Responsibilities

We are hiring for the following Control Room Crew positions (see below for full position responsibilities and qualifications for each position):

The individual position descriptions are a summary only and highlight the general level of work being performed in each Control Room Crew position. It is not intended to be all-inclusive. The duties of these positions may change based on business needs. The Company reserves the right to add or remove duties and responsibilities at the discretion of the supervisor and/or hiring authority.

Director - Lead decision-maker in the venue control room during Denver Summit FC home matches at Centennial Stadium. Responsible for calling all camera cuts, driving show flow, and coordinating the full production crew in real time, this role requires sharp instincts, poise under pressure, and a deep familiarity with live sports entertainment pacing.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Call live camera cuts and direct all on-air and in-venue show elements from kickoff to final whistle
    • Collaborate with producer to plan and execute show and segment content
    • Lead pre-match production meetings and walk the crew through the rundown
    • Communicate in real time with the TD, replay, audio, graphics, show control, and camera operators
    • Maintain show timing and adapt fluidly to game action and unplanned moments
    • Partner with the Game Presentation team on rundown structure and segment timing
  • Qualifications
    • 2 to 5+ years of experience directing live sports or entertainment productions
    • Strong command of multi-camera storytelling, show pacing, and live event flow
    • Experience coordinating with replay, graphics, and show control systems
    • Ability to lead a crew calmly and decisively in a fast-paced environment
    • NWSL, MLS, or professional soccer experience a plus
    • A showreel or examples of live directed work is strongly encouraged with your application

Technical Director - Operates the video switcher during Denver Summit FC home matches at Centennial Stadium, executing all cuts, transitions, and effects in real time under the direction of the Control Room Director. This is a precision execution role that demands quick hands, sharp focus, and a deep familiarity with live switcher operation in a fast-paced sports entertainment environment.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Operate the video production switcher live during match broadcasts and in-venue show
    • Execute cuts, dissolves, wipes, and effects accurately and on cue from the Director
    • Follow the show rundown and respond fluidly to live direction and real-time adjustments
    • Maintain awareness of all video sources, graphics, and replay feeds available in the control room
    • Coordinate with the Director and other operators to ensure seamless show execution
  • Qualifications:
    • 2 to 5+ years of experience operating a video switcher in a live production environment
    • Proficiency with professional broadcast switchers (Ross, Grass Valley, Sony, or similar)
    • Strong ability to execute under pressure with speed and accuracy
    • Experience in live sports, concerts, or event production preferred
    • Familiarity with show rundowns and control room communication protocols
    • A showreel or examples of live switcher work is strongly encouraged with your application

Replay Operator - Manage all in-venue instant replay during Denver Summit FC home matches at Centennial Stadium. Working from the control room, this role is responsible for capturing, organizing, and delivering replay clips across up to four camera sources (including main, slash, reverse, corner, and handheld angles) on cue from the Director. In addition to live replay duties, this operator also assembles halftime, full time, and Player of the Match highlight packages during the match for in-venue playback.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Monitor and capture live footage from all assigned camera feeds in real time
    • Identify and queue key moments (goals, saves, fouls, near misses) for immediate replay
    • Deliver replay clips to the video board on Director’s cue with speed and precision
    • Manage multiple camera angles simultaneously and select the best available shot
    • Communicate proactively with the Director and TD about available replay content
    • Assemble a halftime highlight package for in-venue playback before the second half
    • Compile a full match highlight reel and Player of the Match package for post-match presentation
    • Maintain clean, organized clip management throughout the match
  • Qualifications:
    • 2 to 5+ years of experience operating replay systems in a live sports or event production environment
    • Proficiency with professional replay platforms (EVS, Deltacast, 3play or similar)
    • Strong soccer IQ with the ability to anticipate key moments and react quickly to game action
    • Ability to manage multiple feeds and build highlight packages simultaneously under live show pressure
    • Experience assembling in-game highlight packages in a live production environment
    • Experience in professional or collegiate sports production preferred

Camera Operator - Responsible for capturing live match action and in-venue moments during Denver Summit FC home matches at Centennial Stadium. Working across a mix of fixed and handheld camera positions, operators are responsible for setting up their own equipment on arrival and delivering broadcast-quality footage throughout the match under the direction of the Control Room Director.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Set up, configure, and test camera equipment prior to match kickoff
    • Operate assigned fixed or handheld camera position throughout the match and surrounding show
    • Capture live match action, player moments, crowd reactions, and in-venue entertainment on cue
    • Follow Director’s guidance while maintaining strong compositional instincts and anticipating key moments
    • Maintain proper exposure, focus, and framing in a dynamic outdoor live event environment
    • Communicate clearly with the control room via intercom throughout the show
    • Break down and secure equipment following the conclusion of each match
  • Qualifications:
    • 2 to 5+ years of experience as a camera operator in live sports, broadcast, or event production
    • Proficiency with professional broadcast cameras (Sony, Panasonic, or similar)
    • Experience operating both fixed and handheld camera positions preferred
    • Strong understanding of live sports shooting; anticipating action, reading the game, reacting quickly
    • Comfortable working outdoors in variable weather and lighting conditions
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a coordinated multi-camera crew
    • A showreel or examples of live camera work is strongly encouraged with your application

Engineer In Charge (EIC) - Serves as the lead technical authority for a live sports broadcast. Oversees the setup, integration, testing, operation, and troubleshooting of all broadcast equipment and transmission systems. The EIC works closely with producers, directors, technical managers, venue personnel, transmission providers, and engineering staff to deliver a seamless live broadcast.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Lead all engineering operations for Denver Summit FC home matches at Centennial Stadium
    • Manage and monitor:
      • Cameras and Camera Control Units
      • Production Switchers
      • Replay Systems
      • Audio Consoles and intercom systems
      • Graphic Systems
      • IP and fiber transport
      • Video shading and monitoring systems
      • Satellite, fiber, and internet transmission paths
      • Verify redundancy and backup systems are operational
  • Qualifications:
    • 2+ years of broadcast engineering experience, preferably in live sports production, remote broadcasts, or mobile units
    • Strong knowledge of broadcast video and audio systems, including signal flow, routing, intercom, RF, replay, and transmission systems
    • Experience supporting live production environments with tight deadlines and high-pressure operational demands
    • Proficiency with IP-based broadcast workflows, networking, and SMPTE standards (including ST 2110, where applicable)
    • Working knowledge of broadcast infrastructure such as routers, multiviewers, production switchers, audio consoles, encoders, and fiber transport systems
    • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly during live broadcasts

MotionRocket Operator - Responsible for controlling the main LED video boards, fascia/ribbon displays, and pitch-side screens using the MotionRocket LaunchPad control system. From triggering explosive goal animations and hype prompts to managing critical sponsor loops and live scoreboard data, this position will ensure fans are engaged and run-of-show is executed flawlessly.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Live Event Operation - Utilize the MotionRocket LaunchPad system to queue and play graphics, animations, and video clips across multiple LED screens and channels during live soccer matches
    • Cue Execution - Fire off visual elements (e.g., player headshots, substitutions, goal animations, yellow/red card graphics, and crowd prompts) instantaneously on cue from the Matchday Producer via headset comms
    • Asset Management - Ingest, organize, and verify all pre-rendered media files prior to gates opening, ensuring proper formatting (e.g., H.264, alpha channel transparency) and correct aspect ratios for non-standard ribbon displays
    • Sponsor & Data Integration - Manage the virtual scoreboard elements and execute all sponsored inventory precisely according to the script to ensure accurate "proof of play" reporting for corporate partners
    • Pre-Match Setup & Calibration - Configure display outputs, map split screens for fascia boards, test audio embedding, and run through a full system check before every match
    • Troubleshooting - Monitor system stability and playback quality during the event, reacting quickly to bypass glitches, adjust daytime/nighttime brightness profiles, or load on-the-fly graphical updates
  • Qualifications:
    • 2+ years of experience operating MotionRocket LaunchPad, Click Effects (CrossFire/Prime), Daktronics Show Control, Ross Video Xpression, or similar clip server/CG systems in a live sports venue
    • Proven ability to follow a highly detailed script/run-of-show and take rapid-fire verbal directions over a comms channel in a noisy, high-stakes control room
    • Solid understanding of video codecs, resolutions, alpha channels, and basic A/V routing (SDI/DVI outputs)
    • Good understanding of the flow of a soccer match to anticipate stoppages in play, substitutions, and referee decisions, ensuring graphics are queued before they are needed

Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) Camera Operator - Responsible for operating robotic cameras during Denver Summit FC home matches, training sessions, and club events. You will capture dynamic, fast-paced soccer action, providing vital angles for both our live broadcast and in-stadium video boards.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Live Operation - Remotely control multiple PTZ cameras using a hardware joystick controller to track live soccer action smoothly and accurately
    • Dynamic Framing - Anticipate gameplay to maintain optimal framing, seamlessly transitioning between wide tactical angles, tight player follows, and crowd reaction shots
    • Direction Execution - Take real-time cues from the Technical Director/Producer over headset comms, adjusting shots on the fly to meet broadcast needs
    • Equipment Setup & Strike - Assist with the pre-match calibration, white balancing, network configuration, and post-match strike of PTZ camera units and controllers
    • Quality Control - Monitor video feeds for focus, exposure, and color accuracy, making rapid adjustments to account for changing outdoor lighting and weather conditions
    • Tactical Filming (occasional) - Support the coaching staff by recording training sessions and matches from high-angle tactical PTZ setups when required
  • Qualifications:
    • 2+ years of experience operating PTZ cameras (e.g., Panasonic, Sony, BirdDog, or similar systems) in a live, fast-paced environment
    • Previous experience shooting live sports, demonstrating the ability to track fast-moving subjects without erratic movements
    • A strong understanding of soccer rules, formations, and flow of play to anticipate where the ball is going next
    • Familiarity with camera shading, exposure controls, and basic networking (NDI/SDI workflows)

VAR Engineer - Responsible for the technical operation, maintenance, and reliability of the video review systems used to support officiating decisions during live sporting events. This role ensures all camera feeds, replay systems, communications, networking, and video infrastructure function seamlessly, enabling match officials to access accurate and timely video evidence throughout competition.

  • Key Responsibilities
    • Configure, test, and maintain VAR systems before, during, and after matches
    • Monitor all video feeds and replay infrastructure to ensure reliability and accuracy
    • Troubleshoot technical issues affecting video review operations in real time
    • Coordinate with match officials, VAR operators, broadcasters, and venue technical staff
    • Ensure synchronization and integrity of all camera feeds used for officiating decisions
    • Maintain system documentation, equipment inventories, and post-event technical reports
    • Support software updates, system upgrades, and preventative maintenance activities
  • Qualifications
    • 2+ years of experience in broadcast engineering, replay operations, video systems engineering, or live sports production
    • Strong understanding of video signal flow, routing, synchronization, and transmission workflows
    • Experience with replay systems and officiating technologies used in professional sports environments
    • Knowledge of IP networking, broadcast infrastructure, and video-over-IP standards.
    • Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues in real time during live events
    • Familiarity with camera systems, frame synchronization, multiviewers, routers, and monitoring systems
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in time-sensitive decision-making environments

Utility - Assist technical and production teams with the setup, operation, and breakdown of broadcast equipment and event infrastructure. Utility crew members help ensure smooth execution of live broadcasts by supporting camera operators, audio technicians, engineers, production staff, and venue operations personnel

  • Key Responsibilities
    • Assist with the setup, testing, and teardown of broadcast and production equipment.
    • Run, secure, label, and strike video, audio, fiber, triax, and power cables
    • Support camera operators, audio technicians, engineers, and production staff during live events
    • Transport, stage, and organize production equipment throughout venues.
    • Maintain clean and safe work areas in accordance with venue and production safety standards
    • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving operational issues as directed by engineering and production leadership
    • Support mobile unit operations and venue integration activities
    • Perform general event production duties as assigned
  • Qualifications
    • Previous experience in live event, broadcast, sports production, theater, or entertainment environments preferred
    • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
    • Comfortable working outdoors and in varying weather conditions
    • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays
    • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
    • Basic understanding of broadcast equipment and cable management is preferred but not required

Control Room Crew Working Conditions & Physical Demands

  • Ability to work 4/5 hour stretches in a control room or in a sports stadium.

Control Room Crew Qualifications

  • Minimum for all Control Room Crew positions
    • 2+ years of professional experience within Live Sports TV Production Field
    • 2+ years’ experience in Game Presentation or Live Events
    • High School or GED
    • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire

Control Room Crew Competencies/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Significant experience with the principles, terminology, tools, and equipment utilized in television production/broadcast engineering
  • Solid working knowledge of automation in the context of television network operations
  • Working knowledge of satellite uplink transmission and downlink conditional access
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments, often standing for long periods and moving equipment
  • Must be able to adapt to changes in a fast-paced setting and follow direction in the moment

Compensation

  • Base hourly range of Control Room Crew is $30 - $60 per hour depending on matchday role:
