Corning Incorporated is hiring an Optical Metrology Technician onsite in Rochester, NY. This role is onsite Monday-Friday, working a 40-hour week with flexibility as needed. Travel is negligible (<5%) and may include training, customer visits, conferences, and trade shows as required. Extra or off-hours support may occasionally be needed during periods of heightened project activity to meet deliverables.

This position supports Corning’s Advanced Optics engineering organization, which focuses on high-precision optical components and solutions for demanding applications. In this role, the technician will help build and qualify metrology equipment, measure critical optical parameters, interpret drawings and tolerances, document test methods for manufacturing transfer, and support training on test and measurement tasks.

Required Education & Experience

• High School Diploma
• 3+ years in utilizing instrumentation for testing precision optical components
• Hands-on metrology laboratory experience required, as is industrial experience in optical metrology
• Must be familiar with optical shop phase measuring interferometers
• Proficiency in Excel is required

Preferred Skills & Experience

• A.S./A.A.S. in Optical Science
• Experience with interferometry, wavefront sensing, profilometry, precision tooling, polarization/polarimetry, etc.
• Experience with aspheric measurement methods (sub-aperture stitching, null testing, CGH design and implementation, etc.) a plus
• Experience and understanding of geometrical optics and optical test methods
• Strong presentation and technical writing skills to enable communication within the program team and with internal and external customers
• Proficiency with phase measuring software from Zygo, 4D, Apre, QED a plus

The range for this position is $60,821.00 - $83,629.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
