Job Description

Momofuku was founded by chef David Chang in 2004 with the opening of Momofuku Noodle Bar in New York City. Credited with "the rise of contemporary Asian-American cuisine" by the New York Times and named the "most important restaurant in America" by Bon Appétit magazine, Momofuku has restaurants in the New York, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas as well as Momofuku Goods, a line of restaurant-grade products for home cooks.

Super Peach by Momofuku is a new restaurant opening in later this year at Westfield Century City. Part of the larger Momofuku family, Super Peach is an approachable, fast-paced concept built for high volume and bold flavor. Super Peach offers the opportunity to join a growing team focused on sharp execution, great hospitality, and creating a high-energy dining experience from the ground up.

As the first (and last) point of contact, Momofuku Hosts are friendly and warm, yet professional and exacting. We are looking for well-presented, engaging individuals who will be excited to provide knowledgeable, approachable, efficient, energetic, and thoughtful service while upholding Momofuku standards and values.

COMPENSATION BAND: $17.87 - $19.87 per hour plus applicable tips

Responsibilities

• Greet all guests entering the restaurant and thank all guests leaving the restaurant
• Manage reservation system
• Answer phones and return voicemail messages
• Make reservations and organize reservation book.
• Ensure reservations are prioritized and seated in a timely manner
• Strive to accommodate walk-in guests whenever possible
• Clearly and politely communicate with guests when delays and/or waits occur
• Maintain an organized floor by quickly and efficiently seating guests according to company standards
• Assist in bussing and resetting tables when needed in order to seat guests as quickly as possible
• Understand and operate the reservation/seating system
• Maintain professional and warm guest communications - inside the restaurant or via phone/email
• Recognize key people in the industry, VIP guests and contacts related to the company and follow company protocol related to their visit
• Communicate respectfully and clearly with service team and management
• Support team members in the completion of their duties to ensure satisfaction of all guests before, during, and after service
• Engage management for any guest issue or complaint
• Maintain cleanliness and organization at the host stand and front door area
• Assist with restroom checks
• Adhere to Momofuku's Cleaning and sanitation SOPs
• Additional service and/or operational tasks as determined by manager
• Adhere to grooming and dress code standards
• Assist teammates to anticipate all other FOH needs
• Maintain current menu knowledge and up to date on any menu or beverage updates
• Speak and answer questions at pre-service from the Managers and Chefs
• Perform well on any quizzing or testing provided by Restaurant Leadership
• Have an understanding of the menu, and be able to suggestive sell if needed

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1+ year of experience in an upscale, high volume restaurant
• A positive and enthusiastic attitude, as well as a desire to learn, grow, and develop new skills
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and resolve guest conflict
• Willing to accept guidance in a positive manner and implement the direction in a way that is productive for both you and the team
• Able to work in a standing/walking position for long periods of time
• Available to work nights, holidays and long days as necessary
• Ability to demonstrate quick thinking and adaptability in a constantly changing environment

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of Host, Lead Host, or Maitre D' experience in an upscale, high volume restaurant
• Ability to navigate the Open Table (or a similar platform) reservation system
• Ability to plot tables via Open Table (or a similar platform) reservation system
• Proven experience learning seating charts and escorting guests to their tables
• Ability to run host stand with support of leadership, directing other hosts to seat tables and complete other necessary tasks and responsibilities
• Ability to train new Hosts in all aspects and responsibilities of the role
• A proven track record of dependability and a continuous focus on learning and development
• Assist with menu formatting and BEOs

Physical Demands

• The physical demands for this position are seeing, hearing, speaking, reaching, frequently lifting up to 25 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting, standing, for 4 to 8 hours, bending, and moving intermittently during working hours. These physical requirements may be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodations.
